<br />Minutes following the 8/13/2008 Village Board Meeting <br /> <br />PA: <br />LEDGE OF LLEGIANCE <br /> <br />MS: <br />OMENT OF ILENCE <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />In Memory of Mrs. Edna Hinzmann (Toots) former Village First Lady and Wife <br /> <br />of the late Mayor Edwin Hinzmann. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Condolence: Sergeant Mark C. Palmateer killed in action July 2008. <br /> <br />R: <br />ECOGNITION <br /> <br />Mayor Alexander presented a plaque and read a letter from Police Commissioner Ferry <br />praising the efforts of the Departments Bicycle Unit Officers for an excellent Bicycle <br />Rodeo they presented to the children attending the summer camp on August 6, 2008. The <br />Mayor also recognized the Wappingers Falls PBA for providing lunch and a prize bicycle <br />to camp attendees. Mayor Alexander said the hard work and commitment to the <br />community shown by the Bicycle Unit and PBA is a credit to the Wappingers Falls <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Alexander presented a plaque and pin to Village Clerk John M. Karge in <br />recognition of the “Municipal Clerks Honor Roll 2008 Honoree” from General Code. Ms. <br />Angela Arasim, Village Clerk Village of Fishkill nominated him“I think of John <br /> saying <br />as a Role Model for all Village Clerks , his work ethics and professionalism should be <br />recognized and commended”. <br /> <br />Mayor Alexander presented a plaque and thanked the S.W. Johnson Fire Department for <br />doing Fire Safety on Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Village Camp. Assistant Chief Joe <br />Tarquinio, Tom Burke, and Chris Burke were the instructors. Mr. David Bailey accepted <br />the award on behalf of S. W. Johnson Engine Company. <br /> <br />Mayor Alexander said a grant of $200,000.00 “New York Main Street Grant” was <br />awarded and $25,000.00 of it will be used on West Main Street near the bridge, a <br />decorative clock is being considered among other ideas. The remainder will be used <br />starting at the Community Services Building on Givans Avenue and ending partially up <br />the west side of West Main Street. <br /> <br />Mayor Alexander accepted a donation of $1,500.00 from TD Banknorth. The donation <br />will be used to purchase new park benches. Banknorth is building a new facility at Rt. 9 <br />and Vassar Road. <br /> <br />Those in attendance applauded all of the above. <br /> <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br />
