A Public Hearing on the proposed 19T?-78 budget was held on Wednesday, April 13, 1977 at 7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. Silvestrl, Tr. O'Rourke, Tr. Schinella, Atty. Lyons and Treasurer Campilii. Mayor Synnett reported Hearing would be on the tentative budget and proposed uses of the Federal Revenue Sh~ring funds. Treasurer Campilii discussed expenditures in the proposed budget and reviewed same. He stated tax rate would remain at $26.00 per thousand. Tr. O'Rourke reported he received petitions from the residents of Liss Road, Gilmore Blvd. North & South and Paggi Terr., requesting that these streets be repaved. He stated $10,000. would be put in the budget for a bond issue not to exceed $100,000. Tr. O'Rourke reported A~a~ St. would be repaved also. Tr. Schinella thanked the residents for their appearance at the meeting and stated there would be full representation of the Third Ward. He inquired as to why these streets were neglected last year. Tr. O'Rourke reported $25,000. was allocated for streets last year in the Third Ward and Liss Road alone would cost over $20,000. He stated work must be done. Tr. Dolan stated Third Ward has never been neglected. Tr. Lawrence reported Second Ward has been neglected for the last Mrs. Masterson inquired as to increase in Police Justice budget from $3600. to $10~OO0.under Personal Services. Treasurer Campilii replied this was to allow for a full time Justice Clerk. Mr. Connelly, resident of Liss Read, discussed dangerous condition which exists and recommended it be made a dead end street. Mr. Warren Short, on behalf of the Grinnell Library, requested $13,000. be allocated for Library services and Mayor Synnett replied that, due to tax burdens, all departments were cut back ten percent.
