An informational meeting with the Wappingers Falls L/ake Committee was <br />held on June 7, 1977 at 7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. Silvestri~ <br />Schinella. <br /> <br />Lake Committee: Raymond Ward, Ray Paggi, Norman Breault and Anthony DiMarco. <br /> <br />Taconic State Park Commission: Ronald Purifoy. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported purpose of the meeting was to see what could be <br />done with the Lake. He stated that in 1972 an improvement plan was drawn up <br />through the D.C. Planning Board. <br />Mayor Synnett requested a survey and a study for recreational facilities. <br />He submitted plans p~eviously drawn up and inquires as to funds for the <br />raceway and dam. Mayor Synnett reported there was pressure on the dam and <br />the gates had to be repaire4. He discussed condition of the lake as a <br />result of everythin9 washing down. Mayor Synnett inquired as to dredging, <br />cleaning and r~p&ir to the dam. <br />He state w~.~a~d 112 acres of water and nothing was being done. <br />Mayor Syn~tt reported water system was contingent on the level of the <br />lake <br /> <br />Mr. Purifoy reported there was a new bill passed entitled the Economic <br />Development Act~ Title 1 & 2~ through which funds might be available. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported Village was trying to create jobs for the unemployed <br />and we needed funding for materials. <br /> <br />Mr. Purifoy reported there were 50~, matching funds for recreation and also <br />5G~7,. matching funds for dredging. He stated other funds could be used <br />toward the grant and also volunteers or free labor could be written off <br />as part of the project. <br />Mr. Purifoy reported that if application was filed by 4/78 there was <br />a Good chance we could get grant in 1979. He stated emergency situation <br />funds could be allocated and Village could apply for advanced funding. <br /> <br />Mr. DiMarco reported Village had option to purchase the spillway which <br />was in need of repair and discussed possible beach area in the cove. <br /> <br />Discussion followed on possibility of dredging the lake and removing the <br /> <br />Discussion followed on the possibility of hiring a consultant to start <br />the project which is reimbursable and also deadline dates for application. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported Village has received a grant from Manpower in the <br />amount of $82,000. at no cost to the Village. He stated same would be used <br />for a beautification program for the lake and other areas of the Village. <br />Mayor Synnett reprted program would involve 18 employees for 26 weeks. <br /> <br /> <br />
