A Public' Hearing upon the. application of U.~. Cable Vision Corp. for <br />approval of a rate increase for the cable television services provide~ <br />by the applicant was held on Sept. 30, 1977 at 7100 P.M. in the <br />A~erican Legion Hall. <br /> <br />Present: ~yor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, T~. Silvestri, Tr. Schlnella & <br />Atty. Lyons. <br />Absent: Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence & Tr. O*~ourkeo <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons reported Notice of Public Hearing had been published <br />in the W. & S.D. News on 9-21-77. <br />He sta~ed aPPlication to amend a franchise to allow a rate increase <br />can Only be done after a Public Hearing. <br /> <br />Mr. M~ngold, Atty. of US Cablevision, reported they originally <br />made an application for a Public Hearing back in April of 1976, <br />over 16 months ago. <br /> <br />Nr. Howard Erlchsont discussed background of the system as it now <br />exists and distributed pamphlets which showed comparable rates <br />for Dutchess County. Listed as exhibit #1. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported delay was not a problem created by th~ Village. <br />Board as certain information had not been received from CATVo <br /> <br />~lr. Erichson discussed the various areas whic~ are being served and <br />reported Village receives its signal from the Wappinger system <br />located on Cedar Mill Loop (collection point and also microwave <br />receiver}. <br />He stated one trunk line runs through the Town o£ ~appinger, south <br />of the Village and the other runs through the Town of Poughkeepsie. <br />~. irichson reported it was impossible to construct a back up <br />system but that they were rebuilding system, adding a stand by <br />power supply. He staied reconstruction has started,which will red~c~ <br />outages and is expected to take about t~o years. <br />~r. Erichson reported company was adding cable lines from~t, Beacon <br />~o Cedar Loop which would bring in UHF channels from New York. He <br />stated this was presentiy under eonstructlon and should be completed <br />this fall. <br />Mr. Erichson reported system had 9500 subscribers, 915 residing in <br />Village, He'stated 3 employees reside in the Village and vehicles <br />were available for emergency repairs. <br />~r. Erichson reported cost to provide cable service has escalated and <br />discussed cOstS to provide cable service in the Village compared ~o <br />the consumer price index. <br />He stated rate was below the cost of living inde~ and in comparison <br />same would be $8.OO per month. <br />ir. Erlchson reported determination for increase was based on <br />maintenanee of records concernino expenses. <br /> <br /> <br />
