A Special meeting of the Village Board of ~rustees was held on <br />November 21, 1977 at 7:00 p.M, ii the American Legion Hal[ <br />for the purpose of discussing the contract being performed <br />by NY Telephone Company along West Main Street. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett~ Tr. Dolan~ Tr. Lawrence, Tr. Silvestfi, <br />Tr. $chinella, Atty. Lyons and Highway Supt. Fred Sidote. <br /> <br />Telephone Co. representatives: Carl Freeburg, Milton G. Mitchell' <br />(Division Engineer), ~d Ooebel (Engineer)and Don Mc~ahon (Right of <br />Way man). <br /> <br />Mayor synrmtt explained that installation of pipes on West Main <br />(for installation Of telephone Co. wires) was causing many c~plaints. <br />Tr. Doian agreed~ calling it a "rotten jOb.". Tr. $ilvestri state~ <br />that the fill was not compacted, just covered with mn inch or so <br />of blacktop~ so that there will be trouble. <br /> <br />Mr. McMahon said that all property ownexs had been notified. <br /> <br />Mr. Gobel explained that the cable was being run fr~ Spackenkill <br />Road' to the Telephone Company building in Wappingers Falls. <br />They did not want to run along Rte. 9 because that is scheduled <br />for improvements in 'the future. They followed an agreemen~ they <br />have had with the Village since 1954 covering work done in the <br />Village. Their contractor has performed satisfactorily on the <br />job up tO n~v. <br /> <br />Tr. Dolan said that company should have come to the Trustees first. <br /> <br />Mr. Freebttr9 reported so~e contractors are better than others. One <br />in the Village has not done too good a job. They will keep after <br />them. Company has inspector on ~ob. Contractor will have to correct <br />mistakes. Specifications call for tamping and compacting. <br /> <br />Tr. Silvestri reported work on Satterlee Place and by the Grinnell <br />[ibrary was satisfactory and Tr. Dolan agreed. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell agreed that the same quality job should be installed <br />throughout. <br /> <br />Tr. LaWrence stated that the temporary installation should be done <br />correctly~ so as to avoid drainage and other problems in the winter. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell repOrted the contractor has been told to rip it up and <br />install it correctly. The contractor who did the Library job will <br />be doing the work up to about the shoe maker on West Main St. <br /> <br />Tr. Lawrence requested that the job be kept cleaner, to keep the <br />dust down. <br /> <br /> <br />
