Y? <br /> <br />A Public Hearing to consider the application of U.S. Cablevision Corp. <br />the renewal of its franchise to provide cablevision service within the <br />Village was held on 4-12-78 at 7:O0 P.M. in the American Lepton Hall. <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. Silvestrl, Tr. <br />Schinella~ Tr. DiGregorio and Atty. Lyons. <br />Absent: Tr. Dolan. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons re~orted application was to consider renewal of the franchise <br />and notice of the Public Hearth9 had been published in the W. & S.D. <br />News on 3-29-78. He stated applicant proposes to increase its rates. <br /> <br />Mr. Brichsen, General Manager for U.S, Cablevlsion, reported renewal <br />provides compliance with Federal and State standards. <br />He stated a $1.00 rate increase has been proposed from $6.00 to $7.00 <br />per. month. <br />Mr. Erichsen reported no Cable companies in Dutchess County were providing <br />set=ices for less than $7.00 per months and franchise wouId run for <br />10 years. <br /> <br />Mr. Catalano inquired as to discounts for senior citizens and Mr. <br />Erichsen replied there would be a 30 percent reduction on the first <br />television but there would be no discount /or hook ups. <br />He stated rent payers must meet the same age and income standards <br />as those persons who qualify for tax exemptions. <br /> <br />Tr. Lawrence reDorted compliance with complaints were drawn out and <br />inquired if there were any improvements in this area. <br /> <br />Mr. Erichsen replied company has a live answering service and complaints <br />have been complied with. He stated ouestionaires, as to service, have <br />been sent in. <br /> <br />Tr. Silvestri reported he has received no complaints concerning CATV <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons reported franchise is a form of a contract and proposal for <br />a new franchise contains a section for complaint procedures. <br />He stated company has to maintain an office to hear complaints durin9 <br />the normal business hours and all complaints will be investigated <br />within two days. <br />Atty~ Lyons reported company must keep a maintenance log which will be <br />available for inspectionregarding complaints and the Village will <br />appoint a Trustee to serve on a CATV committee. <br /> <br />Several residents in attendance complained about the reception of CATV. <br /> <br />Tr. Lawrence reported havin9 received no complaints in the Second Ward <br />durino the last nine months reoarding reception. <br /> <br />Tr. Silvestri reported he has received no complaints within the last <br />year and felt there was nothing wrong with the increase. <br /> <br /> <br />
