The regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on <br />May 10, 1978 at 7=30 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />Present: MAyor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence, <br />Silvestri, Tr. Schinella, Tr. DiGregorio and Atty. Lyons. <br /> <br />Minutes: <br />Minutes of a Public Hearing and the regular meeting held 4-12-78 and a <br />special meeting held 4-13-78 had been duplicated and previously presented <br />to Board members. <br /> <br />Tr. Schinella reported one correction under Tri-Municipal report. <br />He stated funding should read .875~ on a $1.00 and not .12~ on a $1.00~ <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Lawrence, seconded by Tro $ilvestri that the above <br />minutes be accepted as written and corrected. Carried. <br /> <br />Mr Richard Costa~ 21 West Academy St., addressed meeting concer~ing the <br />increased number of dogs roaming the neighborhood destroying property. <br />He stated he had received little response after taking legal action <br />and dogs were ~eopardizing the safety of the children. <br />Mr. Costa reported this problem has.been occnring for a number of years <br />and residents were upset with situation. He stated something should <br />be done and this should be a priority matter-. <br /> <br />Mayor iynnett reported a problem existed as the Village doesntt have the <br />funding to enforce the Dog ordinace. He stated he would arrange a <br />meeting with the Town of Wappinger officials as this was partially <br />their problem and suggested appointing Bill Nepfel as a third Village <br />Dog Warden. <br /> <br />Mr. Costa reported alternative solution was to identify violators <br />as dogs knocked over his garbage~ dug up the lawn and destroyed his <br />pool. He stated it wouldn't be difficult to identify the owners of <br />loose ~ogs. <br /> <br />Tr. Schinella reported there was problems as to the restrictions on a <br />municipality as we had to pick up dogs and hold and care for a period <br />of time. <br /> <br />Mr. Treppepi reported dogs were running in packs destroying property.. <br /> <br />Tr. Schinella reported cost to pick up dogs would be inhibitive. <br /> <br />Mr. Costa reported dogs running loose can be idintifled. <br /> <br />Mr. Tompkins, resident of Upper Henry St., stated dogs were spreading <br />garbage causing a health hazard. <br /> <br />Tr. Lawrence reported he would contact owners of dogs in an effort to. <br />alleviate the problem. <br /> <br />Meeting to be scheduled with Town of Wappinger officials concel~ltmg <br />th~ dog problem and complainants mill be notified of said meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
