An Informational meeting was held on i0118o78 at 7100 P.M. in the <br />American Legion Hall to discuss the problems along the Bast Main <br />Market Street area. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Tro Dolan, Tr. Alfonso, Tro Silvestri, Tr. Schinella, <br />Tr. ~iGreGorio, Village Justice Mann, Acting Justice Chase, Police Chief <br />Brilliant, Sgt. Perrego & Sgt. Bruce. <br /> <br />Also present: Raymond Franchettl, Joseph Fulton, Mrs. Villani, Arthur <br />Maddox, Ja~es Snowden, Mr. Sassano & Mr0 & Mrs° John Scianna. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported we have been receiving calls concerning the problems <br />on Market St. and at the last Village Board meeting s~m~ was brought up. <br />It was decided to Get everyone together to discuss the problems in an <br />effort 4o resolve same. <br /> <br />Mr. Arthur Mad~ox of the B~x Seat Pub reported a social problem existed <br />in the area as there was nothing to do. <br /> <br />Tr. Silvestri reported the more that is done~ the more we are abused. <br />He stated, many of the youths involved are from out of town and the. law <br />protects th~m. <br />Tr. Silvestri reported th*mw*re BB holes in many of the windows and <br />nothing WaS being done through the Judicial system, <br /> <br />Mr. Maddox reported problem has been neglected for the past 4 or 5 yrs. <br /> <br />Sgt. Perrego reported Police cannot pick up minors and transport them. <br />He stated they know who are causing the vandelism but need the support <br />of the merchants. <br /> <br />Mr. Joseph Fulton replled merchants do not always see the vandelism <br />occurring. ~ <br /> <br />Chief Brilliant reported problem is primarily with teenagers and there <br />were three sol%tions to the problem: <br />1~ ~dUcation - Bring them up right. <br />2~ So6i&l - Need for recreational activities. <br />3. Legal - Police & Judical. <br /> <br />He stated that a~ to the legal aspect, they cannot do anything unless <br />a crime is committet. <br />Chief Brilliant reported they could only petition juveniles to Family <br />Court and if someone is seen committing a crime an arrest will be ma~e. <br /> <br />Sgt. Perrego discussed the number of arrests & tickets issued in the <br />Market St. area over a short period of time. <br /> <br />Chief Brilliant reported Police Dept. needed support & cooperation. <br /> <br /> <br />
