The regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on December 13, 1978 at 7:30 P.M.' in the AmericanLegion Mall. Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. Silvestri, Tr. $chinella, Tr. DiGregorlo & Atty. Lyons. Absent: Tr. Dolan - Due to illness. Minutes: Minutes of four Public Hearings and the regular ~eeting held Nov. 8, 1978 had been duplicated and previously presented to Board members. Motidn by Tr. Silvestri, seconded by Tr. DiGregorio that the above minutes be accepted as written. C~xrled. Mr. Norman Ferling, Park Commission Chairman, addressed meeting and discussed vandelism to Mesier Paxk which included trees, placards, poles and benches being destroyed. He also reported garbage being stre~n around, windows broken and the shed being broken into. Mr. Ferling recommended a curfew from dusk .to dawn, with certain exceptions, and discussed same previously with the Park Commission, Police Chief and · Atty. Lyons. He stated this would give more control over groups after dark. Mr. Ferling reported they were trying to keep the grounds neat and discussed repairs & painting to the inside & outside of the Mesier Homestead. Atty. Lyons reported the Mesier Park was created by a s~ecial act of Legislature in 1892. He stated the Legislative Comm. could draft what evelflocal law which would be required to provide for maintenance. Atty. Lyons reported that anything done must be approved by the Village Board. The above referred to the Legislative Comm. to draft a Local Law with a 9:00 P.M. Curfew, with exceptions. Resident of Oak Tree Village inquired as to what was bein9 done on restricting the boarding up of structures and Atty. Lyons reported co-~ittee hasn't met. Tr. Schtnella reported a Public Hearing will be held on this sub,eot prior to the Jan. 10, 1979 meeting. Mr. Frank Savelli, Zoning Chairman, addressed meeting requesting the Village Board hire a surveyor or an engineer to plot the property of Duane White, 4 N. Remsen Ave., who was in the pro, ess of building a garage. He stated there was some ~uestion as to the 5 ft. variance fro~ the /adjoining property OWner and the elevation of the bldg. TrL Lawrence inquired if there Was'a d&ed restriction and Atty. Lyons replied they,knew the siz~ of the lot butthey didn't know ho~ it ran. He stated there was no ~ther way the Zoning Board of Appeals could resolve the problem as they didn't have the expertise to make this type of determination. Atty. Lyons reported something would be adopted.for the future.
