An Informational meeting to discuss a proposed Disaster Plan was held on <br />1-24-79 at 7:30 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett & Tr. Lawrence, <br /> <br />Also present:, <br />John Berinato - Civil Defense Director for the Village <br />Harold Brilliant - Police Chief <br />Ja~es Delehanty - Fire Chief <br />levin Delehanty - Deputy Fire Chief <br />Mark ~atthews ~ Administrator of the Central Dutchess Nursing Home. <br />Herman Osten - W. & S.D. News <br />Rev. Cho - WapDingers Falls United Methodist Church <br />Father Weber - Wappingers Falls Zion Episcopal Church <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett .reported a Disaster plan had previously been set up which <br />included a relief plan. He suggested running a raffle to build up the fund. <br /> <br />Mr. Osten reported fund was set up to provide <br />burnt out, including funds for a motel room. <br />He stated this was not an extensive program. <br /> <br />immediate cash for someone <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett recommended Father Hickey~ Administrator of Saint Mary's <br />Church~ Father Weber and Rev. Cho serve on a Finance committee and <br />a Disaster plan be set up with a particular member being designated <br />as a contact persom. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported Village would be directly responsible for any <br />disaster shelters which are set up. <br /> <br />Chief Brilliant recommended a direct representative serve on the Red <br />Cross team to acnuire funding in times of emergency. <br /> <br />Mr. Matthews reported they wanted to be a service to the community <br />and the Nursing Home could set up temporary quarters in case of an <br />emergency. He stated they wanted to coordinate their plan with a <br />community plan. <br />Mr. Matthews discussed procedures which would be followed should the <br />Nursing home have to be vacated. <br /> <br />Chief Brilliant suggested Village tie in with the D.C. Civil Defense <br />plans to utilize their services. <br /> <br />Mr. Osten inquired as to what arrangements would have to be made or <br />what would have to be done to use CETA workers. <br /> <br />It was also determined that the Knights of Columbus and the Zion and <br />Methodists would be used as Disaster shelters. <br /> <br />Chief Brilliant recommended that we consider the appointment of a <br />person to act as a representative between the Village and the Red <br />Cross to take care of local residents in case of an amergency. <br /> <br /> <br />
