A Workshop session was held on 10-23-80 at 7:30 P.H. in the American Legion <br />H&ll for the purpose o£ discussing the sewer contract with the Town of <br />Poughkeepsie. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnet~, Tr. Dolan. Tr. Moruzzi, Tr. Costa, Tr. DiGregorio~ <br />Atty. Lyons and Engineers Paggi & blartin. <br /> <br />Also present: Town Councilmen Garrity & Heotzler, Eng. Kelley and plant <br />operator Robert Caccio. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported purpose of the meeting was to discuss the sewer <br />contract and an odor problem alon~ West Hain St. He reported engineers <br />investigated the sewer problem and submitted the following proposal as a <br />solution: <br /> <br />Snlarge sewer main (West Main across bridge to Market Street}, <br />322'~ $300/ft - $96,600. <br />Capital cost - $100,000. <br /> <br />Hydrogen peroxide treatment: <br />Capital cost (feed pumps, mixers) <br />0 & M chemical <br /> labor <br /> <br />0 & M total <br /> <br /> - $10,000. <br />$25,000. <br /> 2~000. <br />$27,000 <br /> <br />Vent system: <br />Capital c~t $20,000. <br /> <br />Eng. Mar~in reported hydrogen sulfide in line was depleting the oxygen. <br />He stated there was improper capacity due to the amount of flow and the <br />grade was flat along lower West Main St. Eng. Martin re9orted there was <br />hydraulic back up and poor ventilation and suggested possibly enlarging <br />lines and treat same with hydrogen peroxide. <br /> <br />Eng. Kelley reported odor problem existed before the Town installed the <br />holding tank am! recommended untrapped vents along Main St. be repaired. <br />He stated the To~n did dye tests on the line. <br /> deteriorating. <br />Tr. Moruzzi reported sewerage in holding tank was ~W~. <br /> <br />Eng. Paggl reported there was a lack of oxygen in the system. <br /> <br />Hr. Caccio reported sewerage was moving constantly and holding tank was <br />being aerated. <br /> <br />Tr. Dolan reported sewerage in the line was running all the time. <br /> <br />Eng. Kelley reported sewerage was runnin9 during the day and holding tank <br />was installed for additional hook ups to be pumped at off peak hours. <br /> <br /> <br />
