A Public Hearing on the tentative 1981-82 budget was held on 4-15-81 at <br />?:39 P.M. in the A~erican Legion. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett) Tr. Moruzzi, Tr. Greco, Tr. Costa, Tr. Mazochi~ <br />Tr. Viglotti~ Tr. DiGregorio) Atty. Lyons~ & Treasurer Ca~pilii. <br /> <br />Treasurer Campilii reported tax base was derived from a total assessment <br />of $16,143~351. He stated appropriations totalled $1~074,546. <br />Mr. Campilii reported major issue was an increase of $10.OO per thousand <br />for renovations to water, sewer and drainage, otherwise there were modest <br />increases due to inflation. <br /> <br />Tr. Moruzzi inquired as to salary increases and Treasurer Campilii replied <br />they averaged 7~. <br /> <br />Tr. Moruzzi reported employee salary raises were not made on the hals of <br />merit or fairness'but to favoriteism. He recommended all regular employees~ <br />full or part time, be given a minimum of 10~ increase. <br />He made a motion to that effect, seconded by Tr. DiGregorio. <br />He reported regular employees were not given a'fair shake and entire <br />proces of the budge was illegal as two newly elected trustees were <br />voting on same. <br />Tr. Moruzzi reported all meetings for the preperation in the budget should <br />have been open. <br /> <br />Tr. Viglotti reported the same process has been followed for the past <br />3 yrs. and Tr. Moruzzi had worked on the raises for employees which <br />averaged between 2.8 to 10~. <br />He stated if raises were unfair, why wasn't something said last year. <br /> <br />Tr. Moruzzi stated~ as a new member~ he helped prepare last year*s budget, <br />but knew nothing about merit. <br /> <br />Tr. DiGregorio reported Tr. Moruzzi followed the recommendation of <br />himself and Tr. Viglotti to attain a 9oal of parity and do away with <br />inequalities. <br /> <br />Tr. Viglottl reported he abstained from voting on last year's budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett re~orted ~Z has been the policy that the new Board members <br />sit in on preperation of the budget as they would have to work with it. <br />He stated all Department heads were welcomed~ <br /> <br />T~. Moruzzl stated he insisted on more money for the employees and lO~ <br />was below the inflation rate. <br /> <br />Tr. Viglottl reported Board voted on each item and same was discussed <br />to the fullest degree. He stated Tr. aoruzzi was always in agreement. <br /> <br />Tr. Moruzzi stated he denied this accusation as raises were dictated by. <br />certain Board members. <br /> <br /> <br />
