Regular meeting of the Village Bd. of Trustees was held on Wgd.~ Feb. 11} 1970~ <br />at 7:~0 P.M. in the Mesier Homestead. <br /> <br />Those present: Mayor Furnari, Tr. DiDomizio~ Tr. Valentino, Tr. Bain~ Tr. <br />Hoolihan~ and Atty. Lyons. <br />Those absent: Tr. Fries and Tr~ C~eetham. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Bain~ seconded by Tr. Hodlihan that meetlgg go out ef regular <br />order of business following reading of the following letter. <br /> <br />Letter was read from residents and taxpayers of Goring Pl. and Veatch Sts. <br />complaining about conditions of streets, lack of drains, sidewalks and curbs <br />in that area. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari repdrted many areas in the Village are in need of curbing~ but <br />no new curbs have been installed in the Villager outside of replacing broken <br /> <br />He stated request will be turned over to Highway Comm. for study. <br /> <br />Mrs. Durkin, resident of Goring PI.~ reported drain sewers was an important <br />item and snow removal operations were poor. <br />She stated s~me homes were lower than road and when street f~oods, water goes <br />in basements. <br /> <br />Mr. DiRocco reported road is narrow and there is no place to push snow, thus <br />creating a hazard as cars can't get in d~iveways. <br /> <br />Mr. Farrell reported it is hard for plow to find edge of street as same is <br />only 14 ft. wide. <br /> <br /> Tr. Hoolihan recommended this area hooking into Maple Street drain.- <br /> <br /> Tr. DiDomi~o suggested drainage and curbing for this area be initiated. <br /> <br /> Mayor Furnari reported this request would be turned over to Highway Comm. <br /> and Third Ward Trustee for study and recommendations. <br /> <br /> Atty. Lyons discussed Reapportionment and repo~ted under Municipal New Home <br /> Rule Law census could be taken from list of ~eglstered voters. He stated <br /> it was dangerous to use registration figures and mechanics for reapportionment <br /> was costly and time ~onsuming. <br /> Atty. Lyons reported he wrote Bureau of Census inquiring as t~ a head count <br /> by smaller units. He stated a letter was received from'Arthur F. Young~ Chief <br /> of Housing Division~ Bureau of the Census. reporting the S~&te of New York~ <br /> through the office of the Secretary of State, has contracte~ with the Bureau <br /> of the Census for the provision of block data for all cities, towns, places <br /> and townships in the State which contained a population of 2500 or more in <br /> 1960, including Towns of P~ughkeepsie and WapDingers. The Bureau will provide <br /> 1OO copies of the printed report to the New York Joint Legislative Comm. on <br /> Reapportionment. <br />Atty. Lyons reported that with this information available, he doesn't see <br />going ahead with registration figures. He requested action be deferred on <br />until the 1970 Census is taken. <br /> <br />Discussion followed on percentage differential. <br />Mr. Victor Si~vestri and Mr. D. O.
