Regular meeting of the Village Bd. of.Trustees was held on Wed.~ May 13, 1970 <br />at 7:30 P.M. in the Mesier Homestead. <br /> <br />Those present: Mayor Furnari~ Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Valentino, Tro Bain, Tr. <br />Synnett, Tr. Moolihan, Tr. McCluskey, and Arty. Lyons. <br /> <br />Minufes of last regular Village Bd. meeting had been duplicated and previously <br />presented to Board members. <br /> <br />Motion by Tro HcCluskey~ seconded by Tr. DiDomizio that the above minutes be <br />accepted as written. Carried, <br /> <br />Petition was r~ad ~rom Mr, & Mrs. Joseph Burke~ Mr. & Mrs'. Donald Schroeder, <br />Mr, & Mrs. John Johnson, Sr., Mrs. Helen Laffin and Mrs. Louisa Seifts, resi- <br />dents of Laffln Ave.~ requesting Village assume operation and maintehance of <br />a sewer pipe serving that street. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons reported residents request Village assume ownership of main from <br />entrance of street which was behind properties, He stated this was riot a Village <br />street and sewer line is not in bed of street, but residents are concerned with <br />a seepage problem and are willing to give easements to correctly maintain this <br />system. Mr. Lyons reported residenfs cannot deal individually with ~roblem <br />and Village was under no obligation, <br /> <br />Mr. Berinato reported he assumed ~ broken pipe was in line 'already as stoppage <br />always occurs in the same place. He stated assuming responsibility of the ~ne <br />wouldn't be a help to the ~illage but an ewDense. He stated also that the <br />water and sewer were installed by a prlvate~contractor. <br /> <br />Ir. McCluskey reported Village w~s under a moral obligation to take over line. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari turned request over to Sewer and Sanitation Comm. for study and <br />report back at next meeting. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. McCluskey~ s~conded by Tr, Bain that the agenda be taken up as <br />the firs~ order of business. Carried. <br /> <br /> Motion by Tr. Hoolihan, seconded by Tr. Synnett,that report on bids for water <br /> star, pipe be considered first. Carriede <br /> <br />Mr, A1 Rossi, representative of Adler and Brenner reported he submitted analysis <br />of the bids on the water standpipe to the Water Dept. <br />He reported bids were opened on April 29~ 1970 and the following bids mere <br />received: <br /> 1) General American Tr~ns~prtation Corp. $185~296.00 <br /> 2) Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. $164,000.00 <br /> 3) Pittsburgh-Des Moine$ Steel Co. $157,254.00 <br />He reported bids from Chicago B~i~ge and Pittsburg - Des Moines Were conditional, <br />Mr. Rossi stated Pittsburgh-Des Moines could complete tank by 4/1/71 and same <br />would be permenently in service by May, 1971, He also rep6rted Chicago Bridge <br />would guaranteefcompetion within 150 calendar days from date of contract which <br />would be Nov., 1970. <br />Mr. Rossi stated Chicago Bridge was $6~735.0© higher than lower bidder and he <br />would make no formal recommendation due to options. Me reported both of above <br />were reputable firms. <br /> <br />Tr. McCluskey inquired if there was a penalty clause if d~adline date was not <br /> <br /> <br />
