Regular meeting of the Village Board o£ Trusteeu was held on ~/ednesday, <br />May 12, 1971 at 7:30 P.M. in the ~esier HomeStead. <br /> <br />Those present: NaFor Furnari~ Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Dolan, Tr. Bain, Tr. <br />Synnett, Tr. NcCluskey, Tr. Sullivan and Atty. Lyons. <br /> <br />Ninutes of a Public Hg. held April 14, 1971s regula~ setting held April 14~ 1971, <br />and Niscellaneous meeting held April 28, 1971 had been duplicated and <br />previously presented to Board members. <br /> <br />Tr. Dolan reported one correction to the minutes of the Niscellaneous ~eeting <br />held on April 28° Letter from Central Hudson, pg. 2, should read lgTlo <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. McCluskeys seconded by Tr. Synnett that the above minutes be <br />accepted as written and corrected. Carried. <br /> <br />Petitions: None <br /> <br />Procla~atio~t <br />Village Clerk read the following proclamation: <br /> <br /> Recreation is a basic human need, essential to our moral, phpsicals <br />mental and socialwell~being. Today, as never before, through continued <br />advances in the ~edium of television, professional sports are playing <br />an ever increasing role in ~eeting this need. <br /> <br /> In recognizingwhat sports contribute to o~r lives, we mast acknowledge <br />our debt to the individual players, and it therefore seems fitting 'and <br />proper that we make so~e tangible expression o£ our thanks to them. <br /> <br /> The Village cf Wappingers Falls can be justly proud of being the <br />birthplace of Dan Brouthers. Dan played with the Wapplngers Falls Actives <br />and from there went into major league baseball, playing with the <br />Baltimore 'Orioles, the Boston Braves and the Detroit Tigers. It was his' <br />prowess at the plate that helped the Tige£s win the National League Ch~pion- <br />ship in 1587. And Dan not only excelled in his chosen sports but uas~ true <br />sportsman in every seese of the word. In paFing tribute to him, me can truly <br />express our thanks to all of the players in professional sports. <br /> <br /> Nme, therefore, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Nayor, I DO <br />HEREBY PROCLAI~ Saturday, Nay 15th., 1971, as DAN BROUTHBRS DAY in the <br />Village of Wappingers Falls, New York. <br /> <br />Notion'by Tr. Sullivan, seconded by Tr. Synnett that the above proclamation <br />be adopted.
