I)olan, Tr. Bain. 'l'r. 5ynnett, <br />Tr. ltoo]ihan anti Atty. Lyons. <br />Absent: Tr. fiulllvan. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnarl annbunced that Mr. Harold Myers, Chairman of the Water Dept., <br />and Mr. Fred Side(es Highway Dept. head, were in the hospital and urged <br />officials to offur their best wishes for a speedy recovery~ <br /> <br />Minukes of Miscellaneous meeting of the Village Bd. held Jan. 26, 1972 had <br />been duplicated and previously presented to Board members. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. I)iDomizio, secoedecl by Tr. Bain that the above minutes be <br />accepted as written. Carried. <br /> <br />Petitions: <br />Mrs. Robert Johnson, 2 Gilmore Blvd. N., presented a petition with ]66' <br />sign'atureS who desire the return of the Leash l.aw. <br />She stated she hat] m~tten a letter to the Hoard re~uesting to ])e placed <br />%n the agendd for this meeting. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson addres'sed meeting reDortino she and her fellow residents were <br />concerned with doqs running loose. ~he discussed present dog ordinance and <br />previous dog ordinance relative to complaints. <br />Hrs. Johnson stated ~m]y provision Do0 Warden can enforce, under present <br />ordinance, deals with injuries~ chasing and harassing any person or causing <br />bodily harm. <br />Mrs. Johnson reported that under prior ordinance, dogs run~,ing a~ large or <br />damaging property was illegal. 5he s~ated Village now Gives no protection <br />to property. <br />Mrs. Johnson discussed complaints resu[tlng from goos r~nning at large agalr~t <br />'children, harassment by dogs and doG bites. She s~a%ed mothers mere unable <br /> %o walk their babies without having %o chase dogs ,%way. <br />Mrs. Johnson disdussed damages to pro~)erty caused Dy dogs which included <br />knocking over garbage cans and dioging up flowers and shrubs. <br />She reported that, due to dogs runnlag at laroes residents could not walk <br />upon the streets without fear. <br />Mrs. Johnson discussed the (]angers of dog packing and recommended arrangements <br />be made with the S°CA in an effort to solve the problem. <br /> Mrs. Johnson requested leash ]aw be reinstated and if there weren't sufficient <br /> fundss she renuestd Dr. Lyons advise her as to the possibility o£ haveing a <br /> referendum put on the Mar. 21st ballot so that voters may decide for' <br /> themselveso <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons reported action could be initiated and ordinance, if changed, <br />would reauire a °ublic ITg/ <br />~4e stated ~bere was no method that ordinance could be put to a referendum. <br />Atty.
