A Public Hearing on a proposed local law amending Village <br />Zoning map pursuant to Section 151-5 and 151-27 of the Code <br />of 'the Village of Wappingers Falls, NY was held on Wednesday, <br />January 9, 2002 at ?:00 PM in the ~nerican Lesion Hall. <br /> <br />Mrs. Sassmann, Chairperson of the Comprehensive Plan <br />Committee, read text of proposed law. <br /> <br />She 'sai'd above pertained to Zoning map, as amended by <br />Proposal ~4, which was final recommendation of the <br />Comprehensive Plan and discussed areas affected by this <br />change and said Central Business District will be much <br />larger as a result, of' this legislation. <br /> <br />M2rs. Sassmann said Exhibit A of said local law was a listing <br />of all designated properties, their~cnrrent and recommended <br />Z 0 ne. <br /> <br />Kathy Ceng of Ceng Auto Center inquired as how change~woutd <br />effect their application pending before Planning Board as <br />their property was now in a GB zone and, as a result of <br />above, will be CB. <br /> <br />Atty. Viglotti said proposal will p~obabl, y require a <br />variance~ <br /> <br />Public Hearing closed. <br /> <br />Second Public Hearing on proposed local law repealing Section <br />151-12 (a) (3) of the Village Code was held at 7:20 PM. <br /> <br />Atty. Viglotti said above repeals a section of the Code that <br />disallows p].acement of signage in a Right of Way parking area <br />or roadway within the Village. <br />He said reason Planning Board re~aested repeal was that, in <br />fact, they issue sign pe'~nits and feel they can better govern <br />where signs should go. <br />~4~. Viglotti said 'there were some Sta'te right of ways over <br />a portion of our main ~oroughfare and some of our businesses <br />~ere not allowed, under the old section, to hang signs over <br />sidewalks and streets; he said Planning Board feels, if we <br />repeal that section, they can review each application on a <br />case by case basis, decide if it was the proper placeage for <br />a sign and better administrate their sign permit approval <br />process. <br /> <br />Tr. Davis said Planning Board has done an excellent Job as to <br />scrutinizing size, placement and safety of signs installed <br />and the State, by approving certain signs in the business <br />district., has set a precedent, and Planning Board wanted to <br />assume authority so that procedumes are car~.ied out properly. <br />Public Hearing closed. <br /> <br /> <br />
