News on <br />9-20-730 <br />He sta~ed two c.hanges have been pzo[~sed: <br /> <br />Change the classification of 7 acres af land from R-12o5 to R-M1. <br /> <br />2. Allow an addi{ional permitted use under R-M1 to maintain and operate <br /> an Adult Homep with a Special Permit, <br /> <br />Mr. DeCordovao Attorney for petitioner, addressed I~aringo reportin~ he <br />had previously invited Officials ~o tour a similar facility. <br />He stated Hr. gcharf, owner o~ this facility, was present to answer any <br />questions. <br />Hr, DeCordova displayed drawings showing proposed plot plan, building and <br />p~eliminary floo~ plan off building. <br />lie discussed interior which would be a 19 room facility wt~h double <br />OCCUpancy. <br />Mr. DeCordova reported building was designed for adult persons, primarily <br />senior citizens and would be licensed under the jurisdiction of the <br />Department of Social Services. <br />He stated this would be a useful addition to the community as no children <br />were involved and same would be a fully tax paying facilityo <br />~r. [~Cordova reported building would be very modern and well equipped <br />and residents would be within walking distance of local services. <br /> <br />l'r0 DiDo~izio ir~elred as to definition of afl Adult Home and Mr. Scharf <br />replied same was a ~esidential Care facility for persons who do not <br />require nursing care. but some help. <br /> <br />Tr, DiDomizio inquired if residents could be of any a0e and Hr. Scharf <br />replied young persons wouldn*t be in need of this tyI~ of tacilityo <br /> <br />Zr. ~iDomlzio inquired if anyone in the lacility in Poughkeepsie was under <br />the age of 50 and Hr. Scharf replied I or 2o <br /> <br />Tr. DiDomizio iuquired i~ the greater percentage of residents were on <br />welfare and Mr. Schar£ replied 60 to 70 percent were receiving some sort <br />oi aid. <br /> <br />Hr, Scharff stated n~ direct payment is received from the County and there <br />was a dire need ~ this type of facility. <br />fie reported there were no nurses, but attendants and approximately 20 <br />people would be employed. <br /> <br /> <br />
