209 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on Feb. lB, 1976 <br />at 7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Hall to discuss the seriousness of the <br />Landfill operations. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. DiBerto, Tr. Bain, Tr. Silvestri. <br />County Representatives: Firman, Armstrong and Po~llucci. <br />William Rao of Rao Suburban Sanitation. <br /> <br />Mayer Synnett reported a serious problem was arising over the garbage <br />situation and wmmted to know if the County would be taking over the <br />operations~ Me stated Rao Sanitation was doing a good job in the Village. <br /> <br />Mr. Firman suggested looking for another site. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett inquired if County was going to condemn property. <br /> <br />Mr. Armstrong displayed a proposed contract with Dutchess Sanitation in <br />which County would set all conditions. He stated County wo~d pay $6.90 <br />per ton. <br /> <br />Mr. Rao Stated private~caterers would pay $12.00 per ton. <br /> <br />Mr. Armstrong reported contract would run for one year with option to renew. <br />He stated garbage collection was not goin9 to 9et cheaper and if County <br />owned the landfill~ price would be doubled. <br />Mr. Armstrong reported improper filling at the airport caused the problem <br />with the FAA. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett stated that he wanted to go on record that Village was against <br />the proposed bailful project. <br /> <br />Mr. Armstrong reported County should handle garbage operations. <br /> <br />Mr. Potllucci reported County was forced to get involved due to pollution <br />and if same was run right, there wouldn't be any problems. <br /> <br />Mr. Armstrong reporteC deadline date was 4-1-76 <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported Village was losing Federal & State~!funds and had many <br />elderly people as residents. <br /> <br />Tr. Dolan stated Village wanted help from County representatives, <br /> <br />Mr. Armstrong reported he was in agreement with going along with contract for <br />one year to satisfy the FAA. <br /> <br />Mr. Rao reported he had no proposed sites at the present time. <br /> <br />Mr. Po~llucci reported he would like to acouire another site. <br /> <br />Mr. Rao reported that~ if airport closes~ he would have~no'~'~r place to <br />gO. '~ '~' ~' <br /> <br />Mr. Armstrong inquired as to alternatives and what would be the costs. <br /> <br /> <br />
