247 <br /> <br />A Public Hearing on a proposed Zonin9 change fro~ O~fice Budiness to <br />Central Business district to allow a liquor store on ~oran ~ve. was <br />held'on Tuesday, ~i'}~ 11, 1976 at 7:00, P.N..in the American Legion <br />Hall. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett~ Tr. Dolan~ Tr. Alfonso~ Tr. Bains Tro Lawrences <br />Tr~ Beldtng, Tr. OtRourke and Atty. Lyons. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons read notice of Hearing as it appeared in the W.& S°D. News on <br />April 29, 1976° He stated Hearing was being held to give everyone an <br />oPportunity to be heard on the proposed zoning change. <br />Atty. Lyons reported hearing Was f~r the purpose of removing premises <br />at 92 ~st Main~$t. from Office Business to be included in a Central <br />BusinessDistrict. ~ <br />He stated that according to General Municipal Law, the D.C. Planning <br />Board must be notified of the proposed change and, this had been done. · <br />Mr. Lyons stated D.C. Planning Bd. disapproved the proposed change and to <br />adopt proposed Local Law would take 5 a~firntive votes. <br /> <br />Mr. Bitner, Atty. for Mrs. Moretti, presented petition with 75 na~es favoring <br />proposed change. He discussed.businessess in the a~ea that are of commercial <br />nature. He stated r~ighborhood is basically commercial and Mrs. Mo:~ti <br />had tried to ~fnd another location for her liquor store but to no availS. <br />Hr. Hozetti Stated this was the best possible s~t. <br />He stat~ that, in refference to the rec~mendation off the D.C. Planning. <br />Board, he woutd like Nr. 8diner to leer with their ~rsonnel to discuss <br /> <br />Nr. ~itne~ rec~e~ Public He~rin9 ~ ~d ~or an o~o~t~it~ <br />to leer. with thos~ op~sed to the liguqr store. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons reported a petition has been filed with the Clerk opposing <br />zonin9 change signed by property owners, restd~ents and tenants in the <br /> <br />He stated that if petition is signed by 20~ of the residents, voting <br />requirements would be ~hanged. <br />itty.,Lyons reported many letters have been received favoring the zoning <br />~hange and if anything additional is subsitted, another Hearing would <br />have to be scheduled. <br /> <br />tlr. Lock~ood, /asr ~ain St., repor*~d he wasn't opposed to Liquor ~tore but <br />to the location. He stated area was a nice neat area which served as <br />an entrance to the Village.. <br />Mr. Lockwood reported several vacant properties in the main business <br />district and it would serve no purposeg to change the zoning ordinance. <br />He stated petition has been filed by property owners i~ the area <br />opposing this change. <br /> <br />~r. ~. De!ane~, South Ave.~ stated he wasn't opposed to the change. He <br />stated Mrs. Horetti could not move into the down town area and there wa~ <br />nO parking there anyway. Mr'~Delaney reported operation was good and <br />there were no police problems,. He stated parking could be available in <br />the area and we should try to keep businesses fr~ ~oving out of the <br />Village. <br /> <br /> <br />
