The regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on 8-10-83 at 7:30 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Greco~ Tr. Cioppa, Tr. Costa, Tr. Mazochi~ Tr. Carey, Tr. Perrego, Atty. Lyons and Water Commissioner Berinato. Mayor Synnett requested a moment of silent prayer be observed in memory of Mr. William Riley, Park Commissioner and Community Day Parade ~hairman, who recently passed away. ~otion by Tr. Carey, seconded by Tr. Mazochi that a plaque be forwarded the Riley family for the many years of dedicated service Mr. Riley performed for the Village. Minutes: Minutes of a Public Hearin9 and the regular Villa9e Board meetin9 held July 13, 1983, a Workshop session held July 20, 1983 and a special meeting held August 3, 1983 had been duplicated and previously presented to Board members. Motion by Tr. Ciovpa, seconded by Tr. Mazochi that the above minutes be accepted as written. Carried. Mayor Synnett reported committee meetin9 held regarding Bain Park with representatives of the D.C. Youth Board, Federal & State agencies was very progressive and future meetings will be held. Action on Cablevision rate increase request: Tr. Carey reported residents were not receiving satisfaction as t o complaints and we were receiving poor service. Tr. Cioppa reported some lines have been replaced but service was still poor. He recommended denying request, Tr. Greco reported he canvassed the residents of the first ward and residents were against increase as same was unjust. Motion by Tr. Cioppa, seconded by Tr. Mazochi that the rate increase requested by U.S. Cablevision be denied. Atty. Lyons reported action on request had to be taken at the first Board meeting roll,in9 Public Hg. and if same was disapproved~ we would bare to give the reason in writing. He reported that, at the hearing, they didn't outline any specifics showing their costs have increased. Roll call vote - All voting in favor. Mayor Synnett scheduled a workshop session for August 15, 1983 at 7:30 P.M. with Assessor,.Treasurer, Attorney, Water Board and Planning and Zoning Beard chairmen to discuss assessments, tax base~ new construction and litigation.
