I9~8 at 7;3© P.M. <br /> T?~ose Present; Trustee Feeney, Sidote, Rllev, Goebel,Berinato,Terwilliger~ <br /> Mayor Temple, Atty. Schofield & Treas. LeRoy. - i' <br /> Meeting called to order~ Roll call. The minutes of the previous regular <br /> meeting were read. Upon motion by Trustee H£1ey and seconded by Trustee <br /> Be. rinato the minutes stand adopted as read. <br /> <br /> M~yor Temple announced the regular order of business will be dispensed wi~h <br /> in order to hear from those present who wishes to speak before the member~ <br /> of the Board. <br /> Mrs, Deitohman of Park Street approached the Board in regards to the boy!s <br /> playing ball in the Park and knocking the ball over in her driveway strik~ <br /> ing her car. Mayor Temple referred her to President Cheetham of the Pa~k <br /> Board to take care of the matter. <br /> <br /> A oom~.lttee from the Veterans Reception oommittee~Amerioan Legion Pos~ <br /> and V.F.W. Post ~ere present to offer their views in regards to the pro- <br /> posed Memorial Park to be located on the lab& near the Wappingers Lake. <br /> <br /> Commander Adams of the V.F.W. Post. reported tha~ his organization was <br /> in favor of the Memorial Park of which a meeting was held a~ the Central <br />School on June ?~h. <br /> <br /> Col. John W. Haubermestel chairman of the Veterans reception committee <br /> reported that the veterans of the village and both organizations who att- <br /> ended the meeting on June 7th. at the Central School were very much in <br /> favor of the Memorial Park. Col. Haubennestel reported that Mr. Curtis <br /> had offered the 5~ acres of land located by the Wappingers Lake for the <br /> sum of $ ISOO.OO.and the amount raised by the committee lm.aDproximatel~y <br /> $ 3182. OO deposit in the Bank this would leave the sum of $I682. O0 to do <br /> some work grading a~l removing some of the brush and trees. The question <br /> is if the committee should purchased the land would the Village be will- <br /> ing to accept it and maintain it as a Memorial park. Attorney Schofield <br /> advised that the Board will have to act on the matter at the next regular <br /> meeting in July and arrange for a special election to be held some time <br /> in the month of September in order that the taxpayers shall vote on the <br /> proposition, <br /> <br /> Mr. J~a:~es Evans a member of the committee remarked that this proposed <br />park will be a great credit to the village and the proposition should not, <br />be thrown aside, this village is growing and should have some place for <br />recreation and this particular choice of lan_d will make a wonderful <br /> <br /> The regular order of business was again taken up as recorded; <br /> <br /> ~2489. Police Justice Begg report for the month of ~ay was read announc_I <br /> lng that the sum off $ 258.00 collected in fines and bonds were sent to th~ <br /> state Dept. as to comply with the new law. Motion by Trnstee Berinato <br /> seconded by Trustee Sidote the report be ~ccepted as read. and <br /> <br /> ~2490. Dr. O'Brien Health officer submitted the following repoet for the <br />month of May. With the Rainy weather during the month of Mgy there were <br />quite a number of colds a~d sore throats. There were a great number of <br />oases of measles in the Village. Thirty five oases were reported during <br />the month and one case of scarlet fever. ~nmple of water was collected ant <br />sent to Albany and the report received was satisfactory as usual.
