MINUTES OF PLANN/NG BOARD

11/3/05

Mr. Alfonso stated that the two pole sign with landscaping around it would look more
like a monument type sign and this is the look that the Plann/ng Board is trying to
achieve. The other concern that Mr. Alfonso had was that the sign would conflict with
the Village Square sign and applicant assured him it would not. Mr. Alexander asked if
the sign would be internally lit and applicant sated that canopy would not be lit - the two
pole sign would have a low luminare inside and being blue - the lighting would be
diffused. He stated that total wattage is three bulbs at 20 watts each. Mr. Alexander
does not like the intemally illuminated signs and the sign on the adjacent property
(Village Square) is spot lit - Mr. Alexander does not feel an internally illuminated sign
will blend in with the Village Square sign. The applicant stated they need the internally
lit sign for exposure - Mr. Morris reminded applicant that speed limit is only 30 miles per
hour on that portion of the road. Mr. Alexander also stated that there is a section of the
Zoning Code which he has asked Village Attorney Viglotti to clarify (Mr. Alexander
stated he is still waiting for clarification from Village Attorney) which states light cannot
go beyond the boundaries of your property line. Applicant stated he would go back to the
owners and propose goose neck lighting and with that Mr. Morals stated with the goose
neck lighting and the planter on the two pole sign - that would take care of the concerns
of the Board. Mr. McCormick stated that applicant is over the allowable square footage
for signs. Mr. Morris stated that the Plmming Board cannot grant permission for
anything that is not allowed by code. He went on to state applicant has the following
options: (1) go to ZBA for variance, (2) shrink pole sign, (3) shrink letters on canopy.
To recap - for the next meeting - applicant needed the following: (1) discuss the
possibility of goose neck lighting with owner, (2) show planter on two pole sign, (3)
shrink signs to 120 sq. fi., (4) bring in samples of the teak and yellow, (5) assure
placement of sign does not conflict with Village Square signs - must bring a sketch of
site and where sign will be relocated and (6) present a better design of what sign will look
like with goose neck lighting and planter.

V, ERIZON WIRELESS~ DUTCHESS SHOPPING PLAZA
Next on the agenda was the proposal from Verizon Wireless, Dutchess Shopping Plaza
with a proposal for a sign on the road sign. At this point applicant gave color swatches to
the Board. He also presented a corrected copy of the sign permit application with correct
dimensions and gave the Board a copy of a letter form the Landlord stating Mr. Micelic
had their permission to act as their agent. He stated he has contracted Gloede Sign
Works to remove the sign in the rear of the building. Mr. Moran asked applicant if it
would be possible to put some type of header on the sign and applicant stated he cannot
do that because of logo restrictions from Verizon. Mr. Morris asked if sign would be
high enough to accommodate planters underneath and applicant answered yes it would -
he also stated the reason the sign is placed where it is on the road sign is for vehicular
visibility which he has shown in past pictures. He stated sign is not illuminated. Mr.
Alfonso stated permit should be sign by the Landlord. After some informal discussion -
Mr. Alfonso made a motion to grant approval for the sign contingent upon: (1) permit
being signed by the landlord and applicant bringing in a letter for file signed by the
