Special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on January 17, 1984 <br />at ?:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Present: Tr. Greco, Tr. Cioppa, Tr. Costa, Tr. Hazochi, Tr. Carey~ Tr. Perrego <br />and Atty. Lyons. <br />Mayor Synnett absent due to personal business. <br /> <br />Letter of resignstion read from Police Chief Harold C. Brilliant effective <br />2-4-84. <br /> <br />Tr. Carey inouired as to our status with Civil Service regarding filling <br />the position. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons reported that~ at one time, Village law read if a Police Department <br />existed we would have to appoint a Chief of Police. <br />He stated law was modified in 1972 to read if a Police Department existed~ <br />Village must appoint necessary personnel to oversee same. <br />Atty. Lyons reported we could abolish position~ leave vacant or appoint a <br />Police Commissioner. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Mazochi, seconded by Tr. Carey that Police Chief Brilliant's <br />resignation be accepted with regret. Carried~. All in favor. <br /> <br />Tr. Mazochi reco~maended appointing Tr. Perrego to gversee the Police Dept. <br />during the transition period. <br /> <br />Discussion foIlowed on the status of the position of Police Chief. <br /> <br />~e?ort on Trt-Hunicipal .~ro~ect: <br />Tr. Mazochi reported certain bills have to be paid for design work and <br />recommended scheduling a special meeting with the Attorney and Treasurer <br />to discuss same. <br /> <br />Tr. Cioppa reported engineering costs was approximately $560,000. of which <br />Village's share was 60~. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons reported Village couls sell bond anticipation notes or use <br />Capital Reserve fund. He stated this was at the discretion of the Treasurer. <br /> <br />Meeting scheduled for 1-24-84 at ?:00 P.M. to discuss above with Treasurer <br />and Attorney. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Perrego~ seconded by Tr. Cioppa that meeting go into Executive <br />session. Carried. (Personnel discussion) <br /> <br />Hotion by Tr. Greco, seconded by Tr. Hazochi that meeting return to regular <br />session. Carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
