A public hearing on the request of US Cablevision for an extension <br />of the franchise agreement was~held at 7:00 p.m. January 9,1985 at <br />the Village Hall on Spring Street. <br /> <br />Helen Martinet, of Dutchess Ave., reported that reception is often <br />poor and service is often interrupted by inclement weather, that the <br />phone is busy when she calls to report itI and that customers should <br />receive a credit on the bill for services therefore not received. <br /> <br />Trustee Boyle stated that he understood that the company was relocating <br />to facilities on Middlebush Rd., and that perhaps things would improve <br />with their being closer. <br /> <br />Trustee Cioppa said that he believed the difficulties with bad weather <br />involved problems with the Mt. Beacon relay, a~d that he was advised <br />that the company was getting new equipment. He also stated that it was <br />his understandin9 that credits were not given unless service was out <br />for twenty-four hours or more at a time, <br /> <br />Don Ratte, Ass't Manager for US Cablevision stated that there had been <br />occasional problems wit h the relay but that the company was obtaining <br />back-uppower supplies to avoid lengthy delays in service, although <br />this would not address any problems caused by automobiles, knocking out <br />any trhnsformers on ueility poles, as sometimes happens. <br /> <br />Trustee Cioppa inquired if there had been any problems due to Channel 2 <br />moving their transmitter to the World Trade Center. <br /> <br />Mr. Ratte stated that they had adjusted for that. <br /> <br />T=ustee Carey a~ked how long an extension was the company requesting. <br /> <br />Att'y Reilly stated that the maximum term under state regulations was <br />for a period of five years. <br /> <br />George Chevalier inquired as to how Mr. Ratte viewed customer complaints. <br /> <br />Mr. Ratte said he felt that the company gave excellent service, that <br />the company was responsive to complaints and that he did not recall <br />any occasion when service was out for more than a few hours. He <br />further pointed out that the present contract was sheduled to expire <br />by the end of the month, and requested the Board to act upon the <br />requested extension of the agreement at theix earliest convenience. <br /> <br />Motion by Trustee Cioppa seconded by Trustee Carey that the public <br />hearing be declared closed as there were no further comments from <br />anyone present. - carried, <br /> <br /> <br />
