Public hearing was held on March 27,1985 at 7:00 p.m. at the <br />Village Hall on Spring St. <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Trustees Cioppa, Costa,~Greco, and <br />Mazochi~ Treasyrer Campilii' and Att'y Reilly. Boyle absent <br />due ta. lllness~ <br /> rne purpose of the public hearing was to provide an~ <br />opportunity for public comment on the possible use of the funds. <br />from Revenue Sharing. <br /> <br /> Treasurer Campilii explained that Revenue Sharing was a <br />Federal Program under the which the Village received last year <br />approximately $34,000. This money was allocated in last year's <br />budget between'the police department and refuse and sanitation <br />costs. He stated that a similar allotment was anticipated for <br />this year, and it was expected ~that it would be similarly allocated. <br />However, residents were free to suggest other uses, which suggestions <br />would be taken under consideration by the Board in the course of <br />it's regular budget workshops. <br /> <br /> The Mayor stated that it was his understanding that Revenue <br />Sharing was one of the programs slated to be phased out, and that <br />the Board should be prepared for that in the future. <br /> <br /> Three residents were present for the public hearing; no <br />comments were presented. <br /> <br />Public he~ring closed at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> An informational meeting was held with representatives from <br />Community Services Program in reference to the West Main Rahab <br />Program. <br /> <br /> Also present: Fire Inspector MacDowell, Lynn Graco of the <br />Village Planning Board, Frank Savelli of the Zoning Board of <br />Appeals, Dr. Howe of the County Planning Department, and Robert <br />Relyea, Ronald Relyea, et al of CSP/RPC. <br /> <br /> Mr. Alan Weitlich explained that the rahab program is being <br />undertaken by a sub-group of CSP~to rehabilitate the three burnt- <br />out buildings on W. Main St. This project would relieve a blighted <br />condition in the Central Business District, alleviate a safety <br />hazard, provide needed housing for senior citizens, and get the <br />properties back on the tax rolls. <br /> Mr. Weitlich demonstrated the proposed plans which project <br />the creation of ten rental units. He pointed out that the plans <br />had been commissioned under the Village Emergency Jobs Bill Grant. <br />The plans are to be presented to the Planning Board at their <br />April meeting. Mr. Weitlich mentioned that the project was a <br />cooperative effort among a number of interested persons, and thud <br />the Board for its support. <br /> <br /> The Board, in turn, thanked CSP for its efforts to improve <br /> the Village. <br /> <br /> Upon the suggestion of Dr. Howe, the Board directed that <br />County Planning Be requested to do a study of parking in the <br />Village. <br /> <br /> <br />
