A Public Hearing on the proposed 19T?-78 budget was held on Wednesday, <br />April 13, 1977 at 7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. <br />Silvestrl, Tr. O'Rourke, Tr. Schinella, Atty. Lyons and Treasurer <br />Campilii. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported Hearing would be on the tentative budget and <br />proposed uses of the Federal Revenue Sh~ring funds. <br /> <br />Treasurer Campilii discussed expenditures in the proposed budget and <br />reviewed same. He stated tax rate would remain at $26.00 per thousand. <br /> <br />Tr. O'Rourke reported he received petitions from the residents of <br />Liss Road, Gilmore Blvd. North & South and Paggi Terr., requesting <br />that these streets be repaved. He stated $10,000. would be put in <br />the budget for a bond issue not to exceed $100,000. Tr. O'Rourke <br />reported A~a~ St. would be repaved also. <br /> <br />Tr. Schinella thanked the residents for their appearance at the <br />meeting and stated there would be full representation of the <br />Third Ward. He inquired as to why these streets were neglected <br />last year. <br /> <br />Tr. O'Rourke reported $25,000. was allocated for streets last year <br />in the Third Ward and Liss Road alone would cost over $20,000. <br />He stated work must be done. <br /> <br />Tr. Dolan stated Third Ward has never been neglected. <br /> <br />Tr. Lawrence reported Second Ward has been neglected for the last <br /> <br />Mrs. Masterson inquired as to increase in Police Justice budget from <br />$3600. to $10~OO0.under Personal Services. <br /> <br />Treasurer Campilii replied this was to allow for a full time Justice <br />Clerk. <br /> <br />Mr. Connelly, resident of Liss Read, discussed dangerous condition <br />which exists and recommended it be made a dead end street. <br /> <br />Mr. Warren Short, on behalf of the Grinnell Library, requested $13,000. <br />be allocated for Library services and Mayor Synnett replied that, due <br />to tax burdens, all departments were cut back ten percent. <br /> <br />No one present expressed a view for or against use of revenue sharing <br />funds. <br /> <br />Public Hearing closed 7:15 P.M. <br /> <br />/~eo D.
