An Intoraational meeting was held on Feb. 9, 1978 at 7:00 P.M. in the <br />American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meetin9 was to discuss why the Village's in Dutchess <br />County cannot receive State aid on various, projects and why certain <br />'legislation submitted by the Conference of Mayors has never been <br />enacted. <br /> Meeting would also look into the possibility of starting an Association <br /> of Village Mayors' within Dutchess County. <br /> <br />Present: <br />Mayor J. Donald Synnett <br />Mayor Joseph V. McCloskey <br />Mayor John L. Hermans <br />Mayor HaroldT. Aid - Asse~bllnaan Betros <br />Leg, Aid.- Senator Rolison <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported primary purpose of the meeting was for the purpose <br />of starting an association of Mayors.within Dutchess County as we all <br />had s/uailar problems. <br />He stated Villagesf have little or no industry and tax base comes <br />largely fro~ commercial property. <br />Mayor Synnett reported we pay a fair share on a Federal and State level <br />but received nothing in return. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported he had requested County assistance but couldn't <br />get it and discussed previous requests to the State for assistance <br />during and after sno~ storms, <br />He stated, if the County Mayors' established an association, we would <br />be in a better position to acquire State funds, <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett discussed drainage problems on South Ave. and repo~ted he <br />received no response in getting sa~e blacktopped. <br />He stated there were no safety factors on Rte. 9 for people crossing <br />the.road. <br />Ma~or Synnett reported Village has been participating in the CETA progra~ <br />and stated we could possibly solve so~e of our problems if approached. <br />as a group, <br /> <br />Mayor Her~ans discussed a proposed project for his Village rega~ding - <br />water extension which would cost approximately $300,000 and he <br />couldn't get a grant from any agency, <br /> <br />Mr. Galligan reported Conference followed a statement of legislative <br />intent and their function was to act as an a~ent for municipalities, <br />He stated Legislative Co~, accepts proposals and submits approx- <br />imately I00 bills a yr, <br />Mr, Galligan reported it so~eti~es takes up to 5 yrs. to adopt a bill,- <br /> <br /> <br />
