The regular meeting of the Village Boar~ of Trustees was held on Wednesday, <br />Feb. 13~ 1980 at ?:30 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. Alfonso, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. Silvestri~ <br />Tr. DiGregorio, Tr. Viglotti & Atty. Lyons. <br /> <br />Minutes: <br />Minutes of last regular meeting held 1-9-80 had been duplicated and previously <br />presented to Board members. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Silvestri, seconded by Tr. Lawrence tha~ the above minutes be <br />accepted as written. Carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Whitely addressed meeting reportin0 she was doing public relations work <br />for concerned citizens, Veterans organizations and taxpayers in reference <br />to vacant buildings at the Harlem Valley Pychiatric Center at Wingdale, NY. <br />She stated she contacted State & Local representatives in an effort to <br />establish a Veterans~ home on this property for nursing care. <br />Hrs. Whitley reported Castle Point's nursing unit is filled to capacity <br />at 148 beds. She stated there were 248 veterans between the ages of 60 & 65 <br />and NY$ has the highest Veteran population in this Country. <br />Mrs. Whitely ~eported facility would help the unemployment problem in the <br />Dover-Wingdale area and County Rep. Poiluccl presented a resolution in 1978 <br />supporting project. <br />Mrs. Whitely reported she spoke to various veteran organizations in an <br />effort to get endorsement for this proposed project and facilities were <br />sound and needed very little renovation. She stated hospital would be on <br />the premises and requested letters of endorsement be sent from the Village <br />Board to the various local and State representatives. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported he felt this was a worthwhile project as the bldgs. <br />would be used and same would increase employment. <br />He stated there was not enough being done for the veterans. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Lawrence, seconded by Tr. Silvestri that the Village go on <br />record supporting the above mentioned project. Carried. <br /> <br />Mrl Cioppa, resident of North St., addressed meeting in reference to a danger- <br />ous traffic & road situation on that street. He stated cars and delivery <br />trucks are parking too close to the corner and blocking the fire hydrant. <br />He stated there was a danger as cars cannot turn on to North St. from <br />West Hain and thus traffic is backed up and vision is obstructed. <br />Hr. Cioppa also reported that vehicles parked on West Main Bt. were obstruct- <br />ing traffic and school buses have to go around stopped vehicles. <br />He stated vehicles were also damaging fire hydrant. Mr. Cioppa requested <br />a study be made for the intersection to cover the following points: <br />1. People using Deli be not inconvenienced. 2. Business in the area <br />3. Create a safe intersection. <br /> <br /> <br />
