A Workshop session to discuss improvements to the Wappingers Lake was held <br />on 10-2-80 at ?=O0 P.H. in the American Legion Hall, <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. Costa, Tr. DiGregorio~ Atty. Lyons <br />and EnG. PaGGi. <br /> <br />Water Board: Mr. Nicholas Catalano~ Mr. John Berinato & Mr. John Berinato, <br /> <br />Lake Committee: Chairman Antonelli, Fir. Ray Ward, Mr. Norman Breault, Mr. <br />Ted Craft, Mr. Gene Giancarlo, Mr. Raymond Chase. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported meetin~ was called for the purpose of developing <br />possible improvements to the WapDinger~ Lake. He stated Village~s <br />water source was under the lake and, to da~e, we have received no <br />financial assistance to improve same. <br />Mayor Synnett reported negotiations had previously been held to refurbish <br />the power plant and aid h~s been requested from the County. <br /> <br />Mr. Antonelli, Lake Comm. Chairman, rep0xted Village had aIlocatted $5,OOO. <br />in their budget but received no financial assistance. <br /> <br />Mr. Petti discussed the various factors polluting the la~ and the lack <br />of financial assistance. <br /> <br />Mr. Fein, representative of the Mid Hudson Flood Control, suggested the <br />Village hire a grantsman as the lake had a direct relationship to the <br />water system and was very important as far as fieematic purposes. <br />He stated lake was down to 10~ of its capacity and we needed substantial <br />~alnfall. Mr. Pein suggested contacting $~a~e & County Legislators as to <br />possible financial assistance. Me, reported residents could not afford <br />a tax increase. <br /> <br />Mr. Koppell, representative of LaBerge Assoc., reported there were problems <br />with the lake and a study had been conducted last year. He discussed <br />preliminary requirements for application to develop area around the lake <br />b~ skated we didn't get into the conditions which exist in the lake. <br />Mr. ~oppell reported lake had subsided between 2 to 10 ft. and there was <br />no hope for assistance until the conditions wh{ch exist are defined. <br />Me stated we needed a current water quality analysis~ mlnerAt & biological <br />quality & samples of sediment. Mr. Koppell reported assistance fox <br />clean up could be had on a 5~~50~ basis. He suggested cleaninG up the <br />lake and start a preventive pro, ram. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported the lak~ was the basing,for the whole County and <br />yet we receive no financial assistance. <br /> <br />Mr. Koppell reported purpose of the program was to clean up the lake. <br />He stated Village would have to submit a certification that there were , <br />no funds available and this was a pressinG need in the community. <br />Mr. Koppell reported Village would have to describe its most pressing need. <br /> <br /> <br />
