39 <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Village Board ~f Trustees was held on ~ednesday, <br />Feb. lO, 1975 at 7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. Meeting was <br />originally scheduled for Feb. 12, 1975 but was cancelled due to a snow <br />storm. <br /> <br />~resent: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. DiBerto~ Tr. Bain, ?r. Silvestri, <br />Tr. Belding~ Tr. Short and Atty. Lyons. <br /> <br />Mr. Winoski, representing the N.Y.S. Division for Youth, addressed <br />meeting concerning the purchase afa hone on South Ave. for adolescent <br />boys from Dutchess Co. <br /> <br />Mrs. Goodman representing the Dutchess County Youth Board, reported <br />homes were now in operation. <br /> <br />Dr. Rosenthal; who lives adjacent to one of the hones, reported home <br />would be an asset to the community. <br />He discussed home, located on Hooker Ave. in Poughkeepsie, and ~is the <br />good relationship which exists. <br />Dr. Rosenthal urged permission be granted for the home. <br /> <br />Mrs. Goodman, Chairman of the Dutchess Co. Youth Board, reported there was <br />a concern for youth of the County~ <br />She read letter from the Wappingers Congress of Teachers supporting the <br />hone. <br />Mrs. Goodman reported many people in the community support the home. <br />She stated there was a specific need for the hone in this area and <br />urged consideration. <br /> <br />Mr. Winoski reported this area was chosen due to access of schools, <br />shopping, transportation and medical services. <br />He stated neighbors hadn't been polled. <br /> <br />~t~[ Horace Belti~, N.Y.S. Division for Youth, reported this would be <br />a group home consisiing of 7'beds and would be an asset. <br />He stated the County will have four homes whiCh will house youths ages <br />13 to 17 and they were here to provide a service. <br /> <br />Mr. Valachovic inquired as to who refers children to the ho~es and <br />Mr. Winoski replied guidance counsels. <br /> <br />Mr. VaLachovic inquired if children came fron problem homes and Mr. <br />Winoski reported services were for abused children and those who could <br />no.lor~er be controlled. <br /> <br />Hr. Valachovic inquired as to why 79 South Ave. was chosen for the ho~e <br />and Mr. ~ine~ki discussed the advantages of the house and reported he <br />has checked with Zoning & Planning. <br />He s~ated Urban ho~es canbbe established despite local zoning. <br /> <br />Tr. Oolan reported this request would have to be studied further. <br /> <br /> <br />
