A Public Nearing on th~ propos@d Budget for the year 1975-76 was held <br />on April g~ 1975 at 7:00 PM in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />Present: ~ayor Synnett, Tr. Dolan, Tr. DiBerto, Tr. Bain, Tr. SAlves{ri, <br />Tr. Belding, Tr. Short and Atty. Lyqus, <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett reported tax rate would be reduced $2.00 per thousand to <br />assist the elederly and Village could operate with proposed budget. <br /> <br />Mr. Weitlich inquired as to personal service doubling under Recreation <br />and Mayor Synnett replied Village receives funds back. <br /> <br />Mr. Weitlich inquired as to $23,460. in sewer revenues and Mayor Syn~ett <br />replied these were fees received from the Town of Poughkeepsie. <br /> <br />Mr. Chase inquired if Village had a surplus going into 1975-76 and Mayor <br />Synnett replied $120,000. <br /> <br />Tr. Silvestri re'fred these monies would be used towards sewer projects. <br /> <br />Mr. Cha~e inquired as to increas~ of $25,000. in Personal service for <br />the Police Dept. and Mayor Synnett replied Pollce were given 6% increase <br />in salaries. <br /> <br />Mr. Valachovic inquired as to what the $5,000. in equipment ~ for'the <br />Police covered and Mayor Synnett replied repairs to radios and various <br />other miscellaneous repairs. <br /> <br />Police Chief Berberich reported gasoline purchases were running $717!00 per <br />mo. or $8400. per yr. He stated radio rental would run $3268. per yr. <br />and he had approximately $4,000. for other items to work with. <br />Mr~ Berberich stated it was his unde~standin9 that he would get proper <br />eouipment when he took this position. He stated telephones alone would <br />run approximately $1,000. per yr. and he needed new weapons. <br />Chief Berberich stated he couldn't work with this budget. <br /> <br />Police Officer White read a letter fro~ the P.B.A. wanting to go on record <br />as being opposed to the proposed salary budget and requested a meeting with <br />the Village <br /> <br />Mr. Weitlich commended Police Dept. for their services rendered but stated <br />this was only a Village and $100,000. seemed a sufficient amount to <br />effectively protect the Village. <br /> <br />Tr. Dolan reported all departments would have to live within the budget. <br /> <br />Officer White inquired as to why taxes were being reduced if Village was <br />having a difficulty. <br /> <br />Hayor Synnett reported older citizens were overburdened with taxes now and <br />that is why this was being done. <br /> <br /> <br />
