A Public Hearing on a proposed rate increase for CATV was held on 7-13-83 <br />at 7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br />°resent: Mayor Synnett, Tr. Greco, Tr. Cioppa, Tr. Mazochi, Tr. Costa, <br />Tr. Carey and Atty. Lyons. <br /> <br />Atty. Lyons'reported CATV applied for an increase in rates and, under the <br />Villaoe Law, this would be an amendment to the franchise.. <br /> <br />Mr. Howard Erichson, President of Beacon CATV, outlined the reasons for his <br />request for an increase which included inflation and Consumer price index. <br />He discussed programming and the history of TV systems stating rates haven't <br />kept up with index. <br />Mr. Erichson reported Village was paying $7.95 per mo. while areas were <br />paying $12.OO per mo. He stated WappinGers Falls was 100~ served. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett discussed area along Nelson Ave. which was not being serviced. <br />and Mr. Brichson replied this would be investigated. <br /> <br />Tr. Cioppa inquired as to the cancellation of the CATV magazine and recommended <br />upgradinG reception. <br />Mr. Erichson replied magazine was being updated. He discussed signal direction, <br />power supDly and power outages. <br />He reported there was a local answering service. <br /> <br />Mayor Synnett inquired as adjustment of a bill when service is out and <br />discussion followed on same. <br /> <br />Discussion followed on channels available and the ones deleted, <br /> <br />Tr. Greco reported residents in the 1st Ward were against any price increases. <br /> <br />atty. Lyons reported that, according to the franchise, Villa9e is obligated <br />to act at their next regular meeting following the hearing to either grant <br />or disapprove request. He stated Village must give reasons if request is <br />disapproved and same will be referred to the State CATV; Commission. <br /> <br />Public Hearin9 closed 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Leo- O.
