Special meeting of the Mayor and Village Board of Trustees was helC <br />on 4-28-98 at 7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Gakk. '~ <br /> <br />Present: Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Juliano, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. Hinzmann, <br />Tr. Heming~ay. <br /> <br />Absent: Mayor Belding (vacation), Tr. Goebel (work). <br /> <br />Tr. Hemingway conducted meeting and read the following stateme~.m~ <br /> <br /> The proposed budget, anticipates no increase in tax rate, and <br />maintains the current rate of $109.00 per thousand of assessed value. <br />This is due in part to the benefits derived from a combination of a <br />modest increase in the tax base and decreased costs in some items <br />such as projected insurance premiums and debt service. <br /> <br /> The preliminary budget as previously reviewed reflected items <br />various department requested. The current proposed budget reflects <br />an estimate of their requirements. <br /> <br /> The budget generally reflects an increase for non-union employee~ <br />of approximately three percent (3%). Appropriations in the personal <br />services lines for both police and public works employees <br />accommodates the contractually mandated step-increases. <br /> <br /> The Highway expense line has been increased by $5,000. Projects <br />planned for this year include work on Franklindale Avenue and in the <br />area of the Oak Park/Brookside drainage area. Additional paving am~ <br />sidewalk repair is projected for funding under the state Ch~ps <br />program. <br /> <br /> The allocation for the library has been maintained at $27,000.0C <br />the budget also includes an allocation for the continuation of last <br />summer's dredging project at the lake. <br /> <br /> Provision has been made for the annual bulk pick-up; it is <br />anticipated that this will schedUled for sometime in late <br />summer/early autumn. <br /> <br /> Tr. Hemingway reported budget preparation was a very time consuming <br /> process and thanked Treasurer Masterson for her time and ~ffort. <br /> <br /> Tr. Juliano reported Board worked together on the budget and thanked <br /> Board members for all their efforts. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Juliano, seconded by Tr. DiDomizio that the 1998-99 <br />Village budget be adopted. Carred. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. DiDomizio, seconded by Tr. Juliano that meeting <br />adjourn.
