The regular meeting of the Mayor and Village Board of <br />Trustees was held on Wednesday, July 8, 1998 at 7:30 PM in <br />the American Legion. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Belding, Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Juliano, Tr. <br />Lawrence, Tr Hinzmann, Tr. Hemingway, Tr. Goebel and Atty. <br />Viglotti. <br />Also present: Lieut. Birdsell, Zoning Offficer Alfonso, <br />Planning Board Chairman Visentin and Water Commissioner <br />Travis. <br /> <br />Minutes: <br /> <br />Minutes of the last regular meeting held on June 10, 1998 had <br />been duplicated and previously presented to Board members. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Lawrence,seconded by Tr. Juliano that the <br />above minutes be approved as written. Carried. <br /> <br />AGENDA <br /> <br />REPORT ON POLICE MATTERS - TR. JULIANO: <br /> <br />Tr. Juliano said he had request from Lieut. Birdsell to fill <br />a 4 hour gap on Saturday and Sunday (11 am to 3 pm shift). He <br />said one Officer on duty for 4 hrs. on these days and moved <br />that another Officer be engaged to fill this gap. <br /> <br />Tr. Hemingway said committee had briefly discussed this <br />change but present policy has been in effect since 1990 in an <br />effort to save money during a slow period. <br /> <br />Tr. Juliano said Police concern was safety and wellfare of <br />an Officer. <br /> <br />Mayor Belding recommended this subject be discussed in <br />Executive session. <br /> <br />Tr. Juliano reported Police committee also discussed prices <br />for surveillance equipment. <br /> <br />Lieut. Birdsei1 discussed the purchase of a surveillance <br />camera for high crime areas which patrols were trying to <br />address. He said camera will include housing unit, camera, <br />monitor, TV screen, VCR and cable and would cost $2734.37 <br />(written estimate). He said, to eliminate wiring from station <br />to camera, a wireless system could be purchased for an <br />additional $2995.00. <br /> <br />Tr. Juliano said a serious problem existed on Reservoir Pi./, <br />behind Coffee shop, with acts of vandelism occurring. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Juliano, seconded by Tr. Hemingway that <br />$5734.37 be allocated for the above wireless camera. <br /> <br /> <br />
