Trustee Chase, <br /> Aye. Trustee Enson, Aye. Trustee Davis, Aye. Trustee Komornik, Aye. Trustee Whitten, <br /> Aye. Trustee Huber, Aye. Attorney Viglotti, Aye. <br /> RECOGNITION/ANNOUNCEMENTS/SPECIAL EVENTS <br /> Christmas Tree Lighting 11/25/17 <br /> LOCAL LAW# 7 FOR THE YEAR 2017 <br /> A Local Law entitled No. 7 for the year 2017 abolishing the Police Department of the <br /> Village of Wappingers Falls. <br /> BE IT ENACTED by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Wappingers Falls that the <br /> police Department in the Village of Wappingers Falls is hereby abolished. <br /> SECTION 1: LEGISLATIVE INTENT <br /> Pursuant to NY State mandates, the Village of Wappingers Falls has investigated <br /> methods whereby it may enter into shared service agreements and thereby reduce its tax <br /> levy and attendant burden on Village taxpayers. It has come to the attention of the Board <br /> of Trustees of said Village that to engage the Dutchess County Sheriff to provide full <br /> time professional police officers to the Village of Wappingers Falls in a more intensive <br /> manner than that which is usually and normally provided by the Sheriff will result in <br /> excess of$500,000.00 in savings to the Village of Wappingers Falls. Consequently, the <br /> Village is desirous of entering into a proposed contract with the County of Dutchess in <br /> this regard. <br /> SECTION 2: TEXT <br /> Pursuant to Section 8-800 of the Village Law of the State of New York the Village of <br /> Wappingers Falls Police Department is hereby abolished and the Mayor of the Village of <br /> Wappingers Falls is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the County of <br /> Dutchess for additional Police services. <br /> SECTION 3: REFERENDUM <br /> Page 1 of 9 <br />
