A special meeting was held on Friday, April 28, 2000 at 7:00
P.M. in the ;~uerican Legion Hall for the purpose of adopting
the 2000-2001 Village budget.

Present: Mayor Belding, Tr. Juliano, Tr. Cerino, Tr.
Lawrence, Tr. Marshall, Tr. Davis and Tr. Bain.

Mayor Belding asked the Village Treasurer to give brief
overview of the proposed budget.

Treasurer Pacio reported this year's tax rate was broken down
into two items.

Item 91 - Mandate of Village voters to initiate a Firemens'
Service Award program which will increase the tax rate by
$6.93 per thousand.

He said under the general budget, the Board, through their
hard work, has reduced the tax rate to $106.52 per thousand,
a reduction from last year's $108.00 .

Mayor Belding said he will afford each Trustee the
opportunity to comment on the budget and asked that any
discussion be deferred until everyone is heard.

Tr. Lawrence addressed budget and said, at one point, during
budget discussions, the tentative tax rate reached $158.00
per thousand, but, through the efforts of the Board, they
kept bringing it down to where it is now. He said he thinks
we have a budget that will work as they have put a lot of
time and effort into it.

Tr. Juliano said he agreed with Tr. Lawrence as the Board
worked really hard on the budget and we had a pitfall in the
system in that we had to include the Firemens' Service Awards
program which amounted to an increase of $6.93 per thousand.
He said last year's tax rate was $108.00 per thousand and we
tried to get efficient with this year's budget and, at the
same time, not lose any services.

Tr. Juliano discussed bond for a new Highway truck rather
than budgeting same and said every $16,000. spent amounts to
an increase of $1.00 per thousand in the tax rate.
He said this year's budget was efficient, without losing
services, and calls for a decrease in tax rate.

Tr. Davis said he can't disagree with T~ustees Lawrence and
Juliano as a lot of hard work and effort were expended on
same.
He said he had a few questions and there were a few things
he wasn't happy with.

Tr. Davis said we didn't budget for the Gazebo or Firehouse
roof replacements and these items were a concern in 1999. He
