A Public Hearing was held on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 at
7:00 P.M. in the American Legion Hall for the purpose of
seeking public input as to a solution to the speeding
problems on Liss Road.

Tr. ~avis said he had been approached by residents of Liss
road who said they feared for their young children's safety
as they were experiencing serious speeding problems on the
street. He said Police were notified and they did several
details on the street, which curtailed events but, concern
was still there.
Tr. Davis said he and Trustee Bain conducted a survey and 20
homes out of 66 responded to the questionnaire, with some
favoring closing off street at Route 9 and others favored a
One Way Street.

Tr. Davis said no one from Liss Road present other than
himself, his wife, and Tr. Bain, and he would like to
schedule another hearing next month as they weren't prepare
to take action this evening.

Tr. Juliano said he has witnessed cars speeding on Liss Road
as they use street as a by-pass off Route 9 and this has been
happening for some time.

Tr. Davis said they realize a problem exists and the
intention of the survey was to let the people on the street
be heard; he discussed various responses received which
ranged from installing street bumps to a One Way Street.

Mrs. Davis said, when traffic is backed up on Route 9,
everyone uses Liss Road as a by-pass, and they do not travel
very slow.

Tr. Davis said he also has concern with the proposed Route 9
construction as everyone will be using Route 9.

Tr. Bain said there has been talk over the years of making
Liss Road a One Way Street, with entrance being at Mesier
Avenue, Liss Road traffic two way, and exit onto Route 9,
with a rlght turn only; he said this would eliminate a lot of
traffic.

Mayor Belding said Tr. Davis and Bain have volunteered to
consult with NYSDOT on the various proposals and Police
Con~issioner Capra will also offer his recommendations.

Public Hearing closed.

7:15 P.M.

Village Clerk
