Public Hearing cn an application for a transfer of a CATV Franchise was held <br />on Wednesday, ..May 10, 1995 at 7:15 P.M. in the Village Hall. <br /> <br />Present: _~ayor Hinzmann, Tr. DiDcmizio, Tr. Cerino, Tr. Shay, Tr. Traver, Tr. <br />H~ingway, Tr. Goebel and Atty. Viglotti. <br /> <br />Also present: Mary Sevey, General Manager of US Cablevision and John Fouhy, <br />representative of Continental Cablevision. <br /> <br />~Ms. Sev~j said their Ccmpany was happy with the merger as it was good for the custc~ers <br />as well as the employees. <br /> <br />Mr. Touhy reported ~ransaction is a non-cash stock merger agrc~ent between Prov- <br />idence Jouroml Co. and Continental Cablevision, Inc. and Continental will assume <br />the resp~%sibility for the managemsnt and operation of the system in accordance <br />with existing terms and conditions of the franchise. <br />He stated the Cca~pany licensed in the Village will continue to be US Cablevision <br />and all terms and conditions of present franchise will apply when they ass~lle <br />fiscal management of the Company which will be in July. <br /> <br />._Mr. Fouhy reported Continental was the 3rd largest Cable company in tb~ US, with <br />headquarters in Boston; was one of the best companies which provides quality ser- <br />ice and is recognized for its contribution and involw~uent in the cure,Lenity, <br />serving about 16 Stat~s. <br />He showed a video tape giving a brief _background and history of the Company and <br />would answer questions after same. f-- <br /> <br />Mr. Charles McCluskey, South Ave., inquired as to why they carried foreign and <br />out of state broadcasts rather than State based programs. <br /> <br />Mr. Fouhy said he agreed but since these c~,~,unites are what's in a New York <br />Broadcast area, they are obligated by law to carry certain qualified broadcast <br />stations but this was being appealed before the Supreme Court. <br /> channels <br />Discussion followed on the possibility of additioD~l/being added by the end of <br />the year. <br /> <br />Since there were no further questions, Mayor Hin~ann closed the Hearing. 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />
