Minutes of Regular Meeting Held by the Board of Trustees on Wednesday, <br />October 12, 1988 in the~illage Hall, Spring St., Wappingers Falls, <br />New York <br /> <br />Those present: Gregory Hemingway, Mayor; Trustees Greco, Ward, <br />Komornik, Hargrave, Kolb; Louis Viglotti, Village Attorney <br /> <br />Others present: <br /> <br />Residents of Liss Road <br />Joseph Fries, Water Commissioner <br />Don Herring <br />Edna Hinzmann <br />Eileen Mas~erson <br />Jean Laffin <br />John Costello <br />John Regan <br />Henry DiMarco <br />Cindy Latino, Recreation <br />Tom Herring, Supt. of Highways <br /> <br />Mayor Hemingway announced that prior to the~meeting the~e would <br />be public hearings. <br /> <br />Public Hearing: Local Law %6 <br /> <br />Atty. Viglotti stated that they are seeking adopt a local law that <br />would allow a Do Not Enter sign to be erected at the entrance to <br />Liss Road.. <br />The Attorney then read the Local Law for those in attendance. <br />He stated that if approved, the law would go into effect immediately. <br />He said that the'sign could be erected but there would be a problem <br />with the enforcement of s~me. It was hard to determine whether you <br />could enter or exit. <br />Atty. Viglotti stated the residents just wanted something to protect <br />their area. He asked if the sign was what they wanted and the residents <br />replied yes. <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Lewis, 33 Liss Road, stated they had a petition signed by <br />the residents to see if they cnuld have the sign erected. He stated <br />that with upcoming istallation of a traffic light at Mesier Avenue, <br />many people would try to use Liss Road to avoid it. <br />It was pointed out that DOT was notified. <br />Mr. Lewis also stated that there are not any sidewalks on Liss Road <br />and there are quite a few number of children. He stated that the <br />situation is intolerable. <br />Mr. Joseph Fries, Prospect St., s~ated he is opposed to the proposal. <br />Many people in the village have private driveways, children playing, <br />and are tax payers also. This is a problem in the whole village. <br />If this is passed, in effect you would be making Liss Road a cul-de- <br />sac and a private street. <br />Mr. Jim Bain, 43 Liss Road, said there, are not any sidewalks. <br />They wish they could have limited access and make this a g~ one <br />way. Lots of kids in the neighborhood are in danger. <br />It was pointed out that this proposal was turned down once before. <br />Tr. Greco asked if this could be restricted to only when the con- <br />struction is being done. <br />It was stated that the crews do not put any signs~. <br /> <br /> <br />
