A Public Hearing on a Community Development Block Grant application <br />regarding a proposed project for Improvemnt of Veteran's ~{emorial <br />Park was held on May 8, 1996 at 7~15 P.M. in the Americqn Hall <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Hinzmann, Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Cerino. Tr. Traver <br />Tr. Marshall, Tr. Hemingway, Tr. Goebel, Attorney Viglotti. <br />Also present, Wayne Thompson, Lake Committee Chairman.. <br /> <br />Mr. Thompson addressed Hearing stating he has been working with <br />the Committee since 1992 and they were trying to make improve- <br />ments on the lake and were attempting to dredge same. <br />He stated they have made significant progress but have been <br />held back due to the lack of funding. <br /> <br />Mr. Thompson read the Project description, a copy of which follows <br />the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />He stated allotted grant was for $43,874., an alllor nothing grant. <br />Mr. Thompson reported additional funding for project will be taken <br />from the 1996 budgetary allocation. <br /> <br />Tr. DiDomizio inquired as to what our chances were for getting the <br />grant and Mr. Thompson replied we were more competitive now than <br />in November as we ~eet priority funding No. 1~ ~hich is improvement <br />of publicly owned facilities such as parks and recreation areas. <br />He also said that,under the census block, we meet the 36% benefit <br />to low/moderate income persons. <br />Mr. Thompson said we were competive as we can be at the present <br />time. <br /> <br />Mrs. Komornik reported she lived near a ~ark and inquired if <br />Veterans was the only park for which improvements were being <br />considered. <br /> <br />Mr. Thompson replied this was the only Dark being proposed for <br />funding as it was being tied in to Lake restoration~ <br />He stated the infrastructure and acceptability of other areas <br />didn't match what was needed to be done but with this project <br />the public at large would get the most benefit and serve-~ most <br />people. <br /> <br />Tr. Komornik reported Temple Park, in the vicinity of ~arket St. <br />and DUtchess Ave., is located near the lower Creek which flows <br />into the river and the creek provides access to boaters. <br /> <br />Mr. Thompson reported the problem with the lower Creek was the <br />Village doesn't own the property but we ~o own the Lake and were <br />focusing our interests w~th the ~roblems this side of the dam. <br /> <br />Mrs. Komornik discussed the various debris which comes over the <br />dam into the lower Creek affecting residents living in that area <br />and Mr. Thompson replied this problem was being addressed by <br />many agencies but wasn't part of this Hearing and invited Hrs. <br />Komornik to attend a Lake Committee meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
