The regular n~cting of the Mayor .and Village ~oard of Trustees was held on Wednesday, <br />September 10, 1997 at 7:30 P.M. in the American Legion Hall. <br /> <br /> (absent) <br />Present: Mayor Belding, Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Cerino, Tr. Marshall, Tr. Lawrence, Tr. <br />Goebel, Tr. H~ningway and Atty. Viglotti. <br /> <br />Also present: Highway Supt. Marshall, Lt. Birdsell, Lak~ Chairman Wayne Thc~pson, <br />Recreation Chairman and c~ttee member, George Traver and Veronica Robonson, <br />Bruce F~ytor, Louis Snell, K~vin Karn, Edna Hinzmann, Jean Laffin and Hank DiM~rco. <br /> <br />Minutes of the last regular meeting of the Mayor and Village Board of Trustees held <br />8-13-97, had ~-~n duplicated and previously presented to Board members. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Cerino, seconded by Tr. Marshall that the above minutes be accepted <br />as written. Carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Kevin Karn, "911" Project Coordinator, addressed meeting giving an update on <br />the proposed project and stated Data collection for the entire County has been <br />completed~. He said he believed tb~ numbering scheme for the Village was in good <br />shape and, at the outset, they weren't going'to re-~ddress unless necessary. <br />_Mr. Karn said if Village has consecutive numbering scheme, they will stay with same. <br />He said project was moving along, encountering problems with vendors and mapping, but <br />nothing out of the ordinary. <br /> <br />Mayor Belding inquired as to when the syst~n will be on ] ~.ne and Mr. Karn replied <br />they w~re constructing a new "911" Cu~unications Center on Creek Road which should <br />be ccmpleted next s~;,,~r, allowing 3 to 4 n~nths for tes~-~ng of ~t and the <br />911 lines, late Simmer or early Fall of next year, depending on the success of <br />vendors in Phases 2 &3. <br /> <br />_~.~yor Belding inquired as to vsx~ant parcels and Mr. Karn reported they ~uld be <br />assigned numbers at a data base and map will be given Village showing the number- <br />ing scheme. <br />He explained how the syst~n w~uld effect the C~%,~nity stating, as of now, people <br />are required to dial multiple 7 digit ntmlber for Police, Fire or ambulance, burl <br />with .911, it would all be the same number and, in addition, the address ~ould <br />also be monitored .which will greatly assist emergency calls ~d almost eliminate <br />malicious or prank calls and false Fire alarms. <br />Mr. Karn said Fire and ~ calls would continue as is with the major change coming <br />within Police agencies with 24 hour converage and he would recc~r~ Lt. Birdsell <br />contact his agency to establish scme kind of dialogue. <br /> <br />Mayor Belding inquired as to fundJ_ng for the project and Mr. Karn replied an extra <br />thirty five cents is added to each persons telephone bill each month which ~uld <br />provide an ~ of $45,000. to $50,000. per month. He said the ne~ Center would. <br />cost $3,000,000 and cost for the Data collection alone was $500,000. <br />He said as ~roject progresse~., expenses will increase along with the char~es for <br />leasing the lines and personnel. <br /> <br />Mayor Belding thanked Mr. Karn for his report and tb~ t/me and effort he~ has expended <br />on the project. <br /> <br /> <br />
