Special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on May 3, 1966 <br />at 9:00 PM in the Mesier Homestead. <br /> <br />Motion by Tr. Sabia, seconded by Tr. Napoleon that Notice of special <br />meeting be waived. Carried. <br /> <br />Those present: Mayor Furnari, Tr. VanVoorhis, Tr. Di~omizio, Tr. Bain, Tr. <br />Lawrence, Tr. Napoleon, Tr. Sabia and Att. MacDonald. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari opened meeting stating D.C. Bd. of Supervisors had adopted plan <br />for the construction of a runway at the Dutchess County airport which would <br />run 1200 feet in the direction of the Village. <br />He discussed hazards Of light jet planes flying at Iow altitudes over the <br />Village. ' <br /> <br />Tr. VanVoorhis discussed meeting he attended, conducted by Supervisor Fulton, <br />and stated Town Board a~ainst erection of such a runway. <br />He stated Town Board ~avored serving an injunction on the Bd. of Supervisors <br />and recommended Village follow suit. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon reported attending a meeting last evening, at which time, Federal <br />aid to airports was discussed. He reported on section which gives right to <br />protest on site for airstrips and entitles a Public He~rin9 to be held by the <br />Federal Aviation Director. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari reported that at a previous hearing, On the reasoning of experts, <br />he was under the impression 1200 ft. wouldn't be adequate. <br /> <br />Tr. DiDomizio stated Bd. of Supervisorm are putting monetary value first and <br />should be made aware that Village is against a south east runway. <br />Discussion followed on hazards of a south east runway. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon reporte~ reason for extending nunway is that Stewart Field has <br />been de-activated and recommended submitting formal protest to Mr. Mort of <br />the FederalAviation District Office, of which he presented a draft. <br />He stated Mr. Mort and Representative Resnick had assured Supervisor Fulton <br />that hearing would be held and Town Council advised their attorney to in- <br />vestigate facts for acquiring an injunction. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari reported he has filed protest with the W. & S.D. News. <br /> <br />Village Board in favor of having Att. MacDonald work with Attorney for the <br />Town Board on acquiring facts for an injunction. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari reported protest would be step in right direction for the pro- <br />tection of the people we represent, <br /> <br />Att.
