7! Public Hearing of the Village Board of Trustees was held on June 14, 1966 at 7:30 P.M. in the Mesier Homestead. Those present: Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Bain, Tr. La~rence and Tr. Napoleon. Purpose of the Hearing to discuss a petitioh presented to the Board %o amend the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map of the Village of'Wappingers Falls, c~ang- ing the classificatio~ from CBD-Central Business District, to ID-Industrial District, for a parcel of land located on Mill St., belonging to Mr. Andrew Andrews. Clerk reported petition for the change of Zoning was ~resented to the Village Bd. on May 11~ 1966. Motice of the Public Hearing was published in the W, & S.D. News on May 19, 1966. ~etition for this change in zoning had been referred to the Village Planning 'Bd. for their recommendations and it was their opinion that this parcel o2 land not be rezoned as'it was i~ contrast with the Master Plan, now in progress for the Village. Notice of the petition for a change in zoning had been forwarded th~ Dutchess County Planning Bd. and the Town Clerks in Wapplngers and Poughkeepsie. Mr. Russell Aldrich, attorney orr petitioner, ~eported petition was presented Hay 11, 1966 for a zoning change. He reported that before Zoning had existed this was and industrial property and at t~e time Zoning Was enacted, Village took existing use of the property. 'Mr. Aldrich ~eported, his{orically speaking~ this property was industria~ when Sweet Orr manufacture4 clothing and asked that~ property be'restored to its original use, manufacturing.. Mr. Aldrich reported concern would build wooden cabinets and assured residents machines wouldn't make much noise. He sta~ed this concern would have to comply with all orders of the Village & dust would be eliminated. He reported concern is high class outfit and would ~mploy local people. Mr. Aldrich discussed compliance with law which must be maintained to safe traffic, etc. He reported Village needs new industry and requested zoning change ~e 9ranted. Dr. DiMarc~, resident of Spring St., reported his property abutts property requesting a zoning change and tenant has trespassed already and no difference can be expected in the future. Mr. Aldrich reported Police should enforce the law. Mrs. Currans,'16 E. M~in St., reported property is a fire hazard, fire insur- ance will go up~and felt prop~rty'shouldn't be rezoned Industrlal.~ Mr. Aldrich stated his client didn't cause fire insurance rates to go up and that problem rests with proper officials. Mrs. Currans also stated there was'no parking facilities.
