75 <br /> <br />Special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on June 16, 1966 at <br />7:30 P.M. in the Mesier Homestead. <br /> <br />Thosepresent: Mayor Furnari, Tr. DiDomizio~ Tr. Bain, Tr. Lawrence, Tr.Napoleon, <br />Tr. Sabia and Att. MacDonald. Tr, VanVoorhis absent. <br /> <br />Purpose of the meeting to discuss possible action on purchase of the Wappingers <br />Lake. <br /> <br />Mr. Ka~nor, owner of the lake and his attorney, Mr. Russell Aldrich, present <br />also. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari stated Mr. Kaynor runs Industrial park and needs water. <br /> <br />Att. MacDonald reported he prepared a proposed option with contract attached <br />for~the purchase and a copy to be forwarded Att. Lyons for study. <br />He stated contract include4 sale and rights to Red Oaks Mills~ Absolutely. <br /> <br />Att. Aldrich discussed lake as being an asset to the Village and that water- <br />employs people. He stated power plant runs efficiently. <br />Mr. Aldrich reported if Village purchases lake, they would control rights and <br />if rights were taken, industry would be lost~ as it is dependant upon water. <br />He stated they are willing to put time limitation on amount of water to be <br />drawn for cormmercial use. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon stated if Village purchased the lake they would have to guarantee <br />water to Industrial mark. <br /> <br />Mr. Aldrich reported no water is being used at Industrial Park, outside of Rower <br />plant and drin~king. <br /> <br />Tr. Sabia stated purchase of the lake amounts to Village purchasing lake in <br />exchange for use of power plant. <br /> <br />Tr. DiDomizio reported Village obligated to supply water to Industrial area, <br />and no industry using water, other than power plant. He stated if Village pays <br />$100,O00 for the lake, they should control water rights. <br /> <br />Mr. Kaynor state4 he was not in favor of taking water from the top of the dam. <br />He reported he would use running water 8 months a year which would amount to <br />170 cu. ft. per second, <br /> <br />Mr. Aldrich reported his clien~ agreed on all terms except exclusion of the 12" <br />restriction. <br />Mr~ Kaynor stated he would accept penalty if water was drawn below the 12" re- <br />striction. <br /> <br />Discussion followed on a time limit on the 12" restriction. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari stated Village would control the gates, <br />Tr. Napoleon reported if Village purchased lake we would be liable for condition <br />of the dam, <br /> <br /> <br />
