241 <br /> <br />Special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on Jan. 17, 1967 <br />at 9:00 P.M. in the Mesier Homestead, <br /> <br />Those present: Mayor Furnari, Tr. VanVoorhis, Tr. DiDomizio, Tr. Bain, Tr. <br />Napoleon and Tr. Sabia. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Cinelli, Mr. Synnett and Mr. Brower present also. <br /> <br />~urpose of the meeting to make Board aware of a gas leak on Franklindale Ave. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon reporte4 receiving a call from Fire Chief Cinelli pertaining <br />to complaints~he received as gas vapors on Franklindale Ave., this occuring <br />on 1-16-67. <br />He repeXted inspecting area and gas vapors were coming from a manhole on <br />the corner of South Ave. & Franklindale and also the first one on Franklindale <br />Ave. <br />Tr. Napoleon reported contacting Mayor Furnari and inspected area also. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon instructed Mr. Donald Synnett to contact Central Hudson and a <br />team from their Newburgh office inspected area this date. <br /> <br />He reported receiving a call 8:00 ,m this date as to gas vapors again. <br />Tr. Napoleon reported inspecting Wapplngers Central School garage 6n Remsen <br />Ave. and found nothing conaected to Sanitary sewer but toilet facilities. <br />He reported no gas vapors coming from manholes north and south of South Ave. <br />Esso station~ but vapors were coming from first manhole on FXanklindale Ave., <br />thur pinpointing leak to vicinity ~f South Ave. Esso Stat. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon reported Mr. DiDomizio, proprieter of South Ave. Esso station <br />has a lateral coming from underneath his building and 6 gas tanks are located <br />beneath his property. <br />He stated water may be replacing gasoline, thus bringing gas to surface and <br />that Board of Health has forwarded samples to Albany. <br /> <br />Mr. Tompkins of Humble Oil Co. notified of gas leak and they will send <br />workmen in tomorrow to dig up Esso Station tanks to see if any leaks have <br />occurred, <br /> <br />It was reported that no gas odor is coming from the vicinity of Knight's <br />garage on South Ave. and that two flush tanks have been opened. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon stated Central Hudson has cooperated fully with the Village <br />in this situation by sending men and equipment to the scene. <br />He reported they are to check area again at 10:00 PM this date. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Cinelli reported he would follow closely the inspections conducted <br />by Central Hudson and should gas vapors get near ~ explosion stage~ South <br />Ave. Esso Stationw would be closed. <br /> <br />Tr. Napoleon reported Humble Oil to send solvents which would cut explosion <br />factor down in gas vapors. <br /> <br /> <br />
