The regular me~ting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on April ' <br />8th, 196~ at 7.30 <br />Those present: Mayo~ Furnari, Tr. VanVoorhis, Tr. Di~omizlo, Tr. TemPle, <br />Tr. Fitzpatrick, Tr. Napoleon, Tr. Cheetham, Treasurer McDonald~and <br />Attorney Pearse. No one absent. <br />Mayor Furnari opened meeting by asking the board at this time to bow their <br />heads in tribute and respect to the memory of Mr. Edward R. Scofield, who <br />served the people of Wapptngers Falls with such unmatched, dedicated ser- <br />vice, that his friends will long cherish his memory. <br />The Mayor expressed his sorrow over the passing of General Douglas Mac <br />Arthur, who served ihis country so gallently over so many difficult periods. <br />The Mayor said tha~ our Flag will fly at half mast in mourning for this <br />great general and in mourning for a great citzen, Edward R. Scofield. <br /> Motion made by Tr. Templ~~and seconded by Tr. Cheetham to dispense with <br /> the regular order of business to hear visitors was carried. <br /> Mr. Nat Mack of Ashley Apts., a new proposed housing project off of Route <br /> 9, introduced his engineer, Mr. Mann, who gave a brief talk on why he <br /> thought this entire project should be approved. Mr. Groenwegen, head of <br /> the Planning Board' said this project had made the changes requested by <br /> the Planning Board and recommended approval. He discussed some features <br /> of the project. <br /> Mr. Mann talked on th~ benefits of the project to the community stating <br /> that ~0 ~units would b~ constructed at a time, starting with ~8 apartments. <br /> Private 20 foot roads would run through the pro~ect. At this time Mr. <br /> Furnari referred this to New Businessand a plan of the project was left <br /> to be discussed at a future date. <br /> Mayor Furnari called On James Lyons to give his report on the Sewer Ext- <br /> ension plan. Mr. Lyons said that Mr. Carroll has the easements, but are <br /> not signed. Resolution by bonding attorneys is being drafted into a <br /> formal resolution. This~$125,000 project consists of extending sewer <br /> facilities along Liss R4, and Brookside Dr. Mayor urged that easements <br /> be speeded up and thanked Mr. Lyons for his report. <br /> Mr. Epstein submitted a survey to the Board on the parking meter situation. <br /> FroTM the W7 questionairres he sent out 36 were returned. 20 suggested the <br /> removal of the meters and sixteen were against it. 8 were in favor of one <br /> hour restriction parking and 12 were in favor of two hour restriction. <br /> Mayor referred this to unfin&shed business. <br /> Motion made by Tr. Cheetham and seconded by Tr. Fitzpatrick that the board <br /> return to the regular order of business was carried. <br /> Minutes of last Regular Village Board Meeting were read by O~k. Mr. <br /> Berinato stated that the number of Fire Police to be raised is 12 to <br /> men fDom both Companies instead of each one. <br /> Motion made by Tr. DiDomizio and seconded by Tr. Napoleon that the min- <br /> utes be accepted as corrected was carried. <br /> <br />There were no petitions to be presented. <br /> <br /> <br />
