Special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on April <br />26~ 1965 at 7:90 P.M. in the Mesier Homestead. <br /> <br />Those present: M~yor Furnari~ Tr. Va~Voorhis~ Tr. DiDomiz~o~ Tr. <br />Bain~ Tr. Napoleon~ Tr. Cheetham and Att. Pearse. Tr. Temple was <br />absent. Also attending Mr. John Haubennestel and members for the <br />Planning and Appeal Boards. <br /> <br />Purpose of the meeting to discuss restrictions on building heights. <br /> <br />Mr. Ken Toole of the Dutchess County Planning Bd. addressed the meet- <br />ing. He discussed surrounding areas and their restrictions on the <br />heights for buildings. He reported most buildings are between two <br />and one-half to three stories ~igh. ~. Sav~tli reported zoning <br />book reads three and one-half story height restriction while zon- <br />ing chart reads eight story height restriction. <br />Mr. Evans inquired about why Dutchess County Planning Bd. hadn't~ <br />commented earlier on eight story h~ight restrictions and Mr. Toole <br />replied this wouldn't effect surrounding area. <br />Mr. Mitchell inquired about factors restrictingbuilding heights and <br />Mr. Toole reported it depends on the character of the Town~ size <br />of lot and Fire protection. <br /> <br />Mayor Furnari reported area is growing and changes are being made. <br /> <br />M~. Epstein reported buildings should be restricted to proportion <br />in area. <br />In answer to Tr. DiDomizio~ Mr. Toole reported six story buildings <br />wouldn't be out of place in Village~ provided they are located in <br />proper areas. <br />Mr. Evans reported a special permit is required for these buildings <br />and that Village should have the say as to where they are located. <br /> <br />Tr. DiDomizio inquired about Mr. Burdis~ Zoning Consult~nt~ setting <br />up different height scales for different VillaSes and it was deter- <br />mined this was decided by the people. <br />Tr. Cheetham inquired about ar~a of land for a six story building. <br />Mr. Mitchell reported he ~as in favor of leaving restrictions on <br />heights o~ buildings as they are. <br />~. Savelli reported he was against it~ due to inadequate fire pro- <br />tection. <br />Mr. Smith reported he was in favor of height restrictions as they are. <br />Discussion followed on high rise buildings concerning sewer~ water and <br />fire protection. <br /> <br /> ~,~. Evans reported no criteria has been taken for six story buildings <br /> as developers met all restrictions and he reported seeing no reason <br /> to se~ height restrictions. <br /> Tr. Cheetham reported restrictions should be aet for everyone. <br /> Mr. Haubennestel reported there is nothing in Zoning Ordinance on <br />~_~_~ side yards' <br /> -Tr. Napoleon reported he had no objections to a high riser provided <br /> proper set backs be made. He reported present sewer lines couldn't <br /> handle high risers. <br /> <br /> <br />
