Fred Ackerman, <br /> <br />Business before the Board Ordinances. <br /> <br />Proposed Ordinance for the Governance of the <br />Village Sewer System, Village of Wappingers <br />Falls, Dutchess County, New York <br /> <br /> Whereas the interest of the Village Sewer System requires the <br />settlement and establishment of rules, regulations~and practices <br />determining the uses of public and private sewer and drains, in- <br />stallations thereof and connections thereto and the discharge of <br />water and wastes into public sewer system and providing en- <br /> forcing penalties for any violations therof in the Village of <br />Wappingers Falls, Dutchess COunty, New York, Herein referred to as <br />the Village <br /> BE IT ~DAINED and enacted by the Board of Trustees of the <br /> Village of Wapping~rs Falls, Dutchess County, New' York as follows: <br /> Sectionl. Definitions and Purposes and administration. <br /> By "Village" is meant the Village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess <br /> County, New York. <br /> The purpose of the Village system is the collection of domestic <br />sewage only and no connection will be permitted to be made to the <br />sanitary sewer system which carry ~r deliver other than domestic <br />sewage or industrial waste, when specifically approved by the <br />Village Board. Domestic waste consists of the solid and liquid <br />wastes from the toilets, sinks ,laundries~ bathtubs, showerbaths or <br />similar or equivalent plumbing fixtures, he drainage from roofs, <br />cellars, yards or roadways is not domestic sewage and cannot be <br />drained into the sanitary sewer system under any circumstances. <br /> Section 2 It shall be unlawful for any person, f~rm or corp- <br />oration <br /> a. To discharge or cause to be discharged into any public sewer, <br /> directly or indirectly, any overflow or drainage from manure pits, <br /> cesspools or other receptacles storing or constructed to store <br /> organic waste. <br /> B. To connect or cause to be connected with any public sewer, <br /> either directly or indirectly, any sediment traps, or any pipes <br /> carrying or constructed to carry hot circulating water, acids, germi- <br /> cides, grease, brewery or distillery wash water, gasoline, naptha, <br /> benzine or similar liquid, oil or other industrial or trade wastes, <br /> or any other substance detrimental to the Village sewers or to the <br /> operation of the sewerage system or the sewage ~reatment works, unless <br /> adequate and proper preliminary treatment appurtenances and apparatus <br /> are installed and maintained at the owner's expense~ so that the spent <br /> water delivered to the Village Sewers will be neutral in character as <br /> de~ermined by the standard acid-alkalinity tests, and be free from <br /> excess suspended matter, or excess bactericidal agents, as may be <br /> approved by the Village Board. <br /> Steam engine exhaust or blow-Off from steam boilers shall not be <br /> connected to the Village sewers. <br /> c. To drain from washstands from public or private garages, auto- <br /> mobiles washing stations, cleaning or dyeing works, laundries or simi- <br /> lar establishments where gasoline, oils or inflammable ~materials <br /> are used or stored, unless equipped with an 0il Separator of suitable <br /> size and design. <br /> <br /> <br />
