The regular meeting of the Village Board was held on Tuesday
<br /> May 2,1961 at ?:30 P.m. at the Masier Homestead.
<br /> Xhose present; Mayor McCloskey, Trustee Reilly, Van¥oorhis,
<br /> Silvestri, Temple~ Fitzpatrick, Canale, Treas. Mcdonald, and
<br /> Atty. Schofield.
<br /> The meeting was called to order by Mayor McCloskey, and the minutes
<br />of the last regular, annual, and special meetingswere read, on motion of Txw~
<br /> Trustee Reilly, seconded byTrustee Fitzpatrick, the minutes were accepted as
<br /> read. carried.
<br /> A motion by Trustee Sil~estri, seconded by Trustee Temple to dispense
<br /> with the regular order of bussiness was carried.
<br /> The Fire Chief, told the Board of a trip to Steward Field, by
<br /> seven of the firemen to see a deminstration on fighting of airplane
<br /> fires ,etc. he also made it knOW to the board that these men went at
<br /> their own expense. Mayor McClosk~y, then told the chief that the money
<br /> to take care of the expense ~or the Chief's inspection, he felt could
<br /> come out of the~conting~nt~ fund,but before doing so he would have the
<br /> atty. look up the law on this matter. Asst. Chief Burnett, asked the
<br /> Board if they could tell him why in the last few years the Fire Budget
<br /> that was given to the Board for approval was cut in half. He felt by
<br /> doing this the equipment needed, Could not be purchased, and so this
<br /> left our fire Departments way behind others in this area. He also
<br /> said that he heard ~hat the Board had plan~d to buy paint and have the
<br /> members of Johnson~ire ~o. paint the firehouse, He fel~ that it .
<br /> was not up to the Firemen to do the painting_but.u~.to ~he_~il~ge ~o
<br /> have it done. Chief asked that the clerk se~ a xet~er to ~ne r~re
<br /> on acceptance of new members to be kept on o. file, the clerk to do
<br /> same in the future. Asst' Chief Burnett, asked 'why 10 yr. certificate
<br /> were not issued on request. Clerk explained that the new law would
<br /> put a fireman with 10 yrs service, out of the o., if he accepted a
<br /> 10 yr. certificate. The Asst. Chief stated that those requesting the
<br /> certificatesknow this.
<br /> Mr. Profuse, and a group of women from Wenliss Devl., on the
<br /> ~ater condition at Wenliss Delv. Mr. Profuse, is one of the new owners.
<br /> He told ~oard of a letter he had from the bank, showing were the Village
<br /> had taking over_the .storm sewer, which is an open ditch, and had agreed
<br /> to maintain it. ~he i~ay~and members of the present board, did not
<br /> remember such a paper, and when some of the members of the previous
<br /> board were asked about it they did not at the time remember such an
<br /> agreement. Mr. Profuse the~ asked the board if they would meet with
<br /> him on this matter next week, so'that he could get the papers on this
<br /> mat~er, and then all would be able to discuss this, and find a solution
<br /> to the problem. The Mayor and the Board felt that this would be the
<br /> right thing to do, and the Mayor asked Mr Profuse to send his a copy
<br /> of the letter. The Mayor called a meeting with Mr. Profuse for the
<br /> following Tuesday May 9, 1961 at 7~30 P.M.
<br /> Mr. Guiliano, of the Maple hade Delv. on South Ave, Village
<br /> asked the Board if anything had been done on the fixing of the
<br /> Incina~or., ~he Mayor told him that letters had been sent to Co.
<br /> and that the Board were waiting for an answer. The Mayor asked Mr.
<br /> Guiliano if he had cleaned up and fixed land he had disturbed
<br /> at the incinator. Mr. Guiliano told board that all was replaced.
<br /> and put in shape.
<br /> Mr. DeLucia, asked the Board for Sewer and Water on ~roperty
<br /> he had planned to delv. on the Middlebush Rd. out side the Village,
<br /> After some discussion, the Mayor said that he felt that a meeting
<br /> between Mr~ DeLucia, and the Water Commissioner, Sewer Com~.,
<br /> and Misc. ~om. to go over this matter and ~epo~t b~k ~o.~ whole
<br /> membership of the Board at the meeting on -uesa'ay may
